I didnt notice my hair loss until 11 months after surgery. My hair was extremely thick. If it went passed my upper back, I would get a headache from the weight. I realized that I could see my scalp about 1 inch in from my hairline above eyes. Then the belt broke on my vacuum and I had to use a knife to cut out all the hair wrapped up in it. I’m a redhead plus I live alone…it was all my hair. The amount of hair in my shower drain and bahroom floor is unbelievable. Did I mention I also have Hypothyroidism. When I brought up my hairloss to my doctor and how dry it was, I was told they are a side effect of the disease and also medicine. That didnt make sense to me since I was diagnosed over 4 years ago but did not have these issues until a year ago. So I went home and tried to accept her response.

The Lady In Grey Hair Loss From Low Stomach Acid

Mary is a 62 year old accountant who arrived in my office with a chief complaint of hair loss. Mary was dressed smartly, wearing a grey suit. Not only that, but her skin tone was also a peculiar grey color matching the color of her suit. This Grey Man story can be found in the book: Why Stomach Acid Is Good for You: Natural Relief from Heartburn, Indigestion, Reflux and GERDby Jonathan Wright, MD and Lane Lenard, PhD . We keep a few of these books in the office for patients to borrow and read.

An All Encompassing Hypothesis

Stress and anxiety cause spikes in adrenaline and androgen hormones. Processed foods cause spikes in insulin and androgen hormones. On top of this some people have above average testosterone and/or DHT levels . Finally, some people may have genetically inherited weaker or smaller livers or weakened livers due to years of drinking, taking medication or following poor diets. So we have four major contributing factors to hair loss . Its likely that an individual doesnt need problematic levels of all four of these problems, but perhaps just two. For examples:

  • Average Western diet + high stress levels = acne as teenager, hair loss as adult
  • High stress levels + weak liver clean diet = acne as teenager, hair loss as adult

You can see how scenarios like these examples could develop through your life. For example you might eat terrible junk food and consume lots of alcohol in your late teens and early twenties. You may not experience much acne, but the toxic build-up would weaken your liver. Then when you reach your late twenties early thirties, the androgen component of the equation would kick-in combining with the already weakened liver component to result in hair loss. So what can you do about all of this?

Causes And Risk Factors For Gallstones

Gallbladder Removal: Heres What to Expect Before, During ...

Gallstones are more common in women than in men. They are also more common in overweight people and people with a family history of gallstones. There is no single cause of gallstones. In some people, the liver produces too much cholesterol. This can result in the formation of cholesterol crystals in bile that grow into stones. In other people, gallstones form because of changes in other components of bile or because the gallbladder does not empty normally.

Surgical Removal Of The Gallbladder Or Gallstones

Around 80 per cent of people with gallstone symptoms will need surgery. Surgeons may remove your entire gallbladder , or just the stones from bile ducts.Techniques to remove the gallbladder include:

  • laparoscopic cholecystectomy keyhole surgery. The surgeon makes a number of small incisions through the skin, allowing access for a range of instruments. The surgeon removes the gallbladder through one of the incisions
  • open surgery the surgeon reaches the gallbladder through a wider abdominal incision. You might need open surgery if you have scarring from prior operations or a bleeding disorder.

I’m Losing So Much Hair After Gallbladder Removal

neonkiss

Hi everyone! So I have a huge problem. My gallbladder was removed laparoscopically in June. Fast forward to the end of September and my hair has started shedding SO much. I’m talking 200+ strands from all over lost each day. I run my hand through my hair and all these strands come out. Showering or brushing my hair is just depressing with how much I lose. It’s December now, and my hair is already much thinner and there is no sign of stopping. PLEASE tell me if this is normal? And will it stop?? I’m getting married in October and at this rate I’m going to be bald. I keep crying over this. I used to have long, thick, shiny hair and now it’s so thin and dry. I’m taking a daily multivitamin for women, biotin gummies, vitamin D and vitamin B12 pills each day because I heard they might help, but so far there’s been no change. I had my blood tested, and my iron was kind of low, so I’m on iron pills now too! UGH! Any one else dealing with this?

What Happens When Your Liver Starts To Shut Down

Can hair loss occur due to thyroid issues? Will it grow back? – Dr. Rasya Dixit

Chest And Abdominal X

Symptomatic cholecystitis will sometimes show stones on abdominal X-rays if the stones contain calcium. An X-ray of the chest may show pleurisy or pneumonia.

However, X-rays arent the best test for identifying gallbladder disease. Theyre often used to rule out other potential causes of pain thats not related to gallstones, the gallbladder, or the liver.

Where Do You Itch With Gallbladder Problems

Narrowed bile ducts from scar tissue can keep the bile from flowing out of your liver and gallbladder into the small intestine. That can make you hurt on the right side of your abdomen where the organs are. You also might be itchy or tired, have a lack appetite, and have jaundice, night sweats, or a fever.

When To See The Doctor

People who have hair loss and signs of a bodywide disorder should see a doctor promptly. Women who have developed masculine characteristics should call their doctor to discuss how soon they should be seen. Other people should see a doctor when possible, but an appointment is not urgent unless other symptoms develop.

Stages Of Alcoholic Liver Damage

People who drink excessively and continue to drink heavily develop cirrhosis in 3 separate stages. These are described below.

  • The first stage of alcohol-related liver disease is known as fatty liver, which almost all excessive drinkers develop. Its a side effect of the liver breaking alcohol down and disappears when you drink less.
  • The second stage of alcohol-related liver disease is alcoholic hepatitis. Around 20-30% of people who continue to drink heavily develop alcoholic hepatitis. During this stage, the liver becomes inflamed. If alcoholic hepatitis deteriorates into its most extreme form it can lead to death.
  • About 10% of heavy drinkers develop cirrhosis, which is the third stage of alcohol-related liver disease.

This risk of developing cirrhosis, along with the risk of alcoholic hepatitis, is one of the main reasons the government recommends that men and women should not regularly drink more than 14 units a week. If you do drink as much as 14 units a week, it is advised that you spread your drinking over three or more days.

A unit of alcohol is roughly equivalent to half a pint of normal-strength lager or a single measure of spirits. A small glass of wine is about 1.5 units.

Key Points About Alopecia

  • Male-pattern and female-pattern hair loss is the most common type of hair loss.

  • Doctors look for an underlying disorder in women with signs of virilization.

  • Microscopic hair examination or scalp biopsy may be required to determine the reason for the hair loss.

  • Doctors treat the specific cause of hair loss when possible otherwise, treatments for male-pattern and female-pattern hair loss include drugs, hair replacement, laser light therapy, and injections of platelet-rich plasma.

Talk With Your Doctor About Hair Loss Concerns Before Surgery

Its also important to discuss the possibility of surgery-related hair loss with your doctor before your operation.

If you expect a long surgery or an intensive care treatment, you may ask about the medical teams plan for head turning schedules to help prevent positional alopecia.

Your doctor can help assess other risk factors for hair loss, and potentially offer an action plan to help minimize it. This may involve the preventive strategies listed above, as well as potential post-surgery treatments.

Gallbladder And Hair Loss

Stress can cause hair loss: Here’s what you can do to stop it

Gall bladder problems, such as gallstones are a common problem, affecting thousands of men and women across the United States. This condition has been known to trigger off many adverse side effects in the body, which could range from being mild to severe. This is probably why many people check with their doctors, for information on gallstones and hair loss. One of the main reasons of this is that several people believe that there is a connection between gallbladder problems, such as gallstones and hair loss. However, many health experts state that there is no relation between any gallstones and hair thinning or hair loss problems.

Gallstones can be described as tiny formations that occur in the gallbladder, which is a part of the biliary system. These stones can vary in size, being as small as sand grains at some times and as big as golf balls at other times. They can cause a person to experience many adverse symptoms, such as severe pain, restlessness, high fever, chills and yellowing of the eyes or the skin. However, there is no scientific evidence to prove that gallbladder stones have any effect on the growth or the health of the hair. Some of the most common factors leading to gallstones, like high levels of cholesterol or bilirubin also do not have any effect on a persons hair. Though gall stones can be treated with the help of medication and home remedies, it is absolutely essential to have a doctor monitor the condition closely at all times.

Medical Factors To Consider Before Cholecystectomy

Before the operation, you need to discuss some things with your doctor or surgeon, including:

  • your medical history, since some pre-existing conditions may influence decisions on surgery and anaesthetic
  • any medications you take on a regular basis, including over-the-counter preparations
  • any bad reactions or side effects from any medications.

Is Gallbladder Cancer Fatal Whats The Survival Rate

Gallbladder cancer is usually not found until its in a later stage. One study discovered that 43% of gallbladder cancers were diagnosed after the cancer spread to nearby organs or lymph nodes, and 42% were found after the cancer spread to distant organs or lymph nodes. Because its often found late, after it has spread to other areas of the body, gallbladder cancer can be deadly.
