Use In Pregnancy Breastfeeding And Children

Does Wearing a Durag Thin Your Hair?

The doxylamine succinate-vitamin B6 combination medication Diclegis is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating nausea and vomiting in pregnant women 14. Doxylamine succinate in other forms during pregnancy is probably safe for you and your baby, but you should ask your doctor before taking any medication if you are pregnant 4.

All forms of doxylamine succinate should be avoided in women who are breastfeeding unless permitted by your doctor 4. Doxylamine can be passed through breast milk and cause sedation or irritability in breastfed babies. It may also reduce milk production.

The safety of doxylamine succinate in young children has not been established 4. Children may be more sensitive to the effects of doxylamine than adults. Furthermore, children are more likely than adults to develop agitation with any antihistamine. The FDA recommends that doxylamine succinate not be used to treat insomnia in children younger than 12 years old 4. For cold or allergy symptoms, doxylamine should not be used in children younger than 2 years of age. In children older than 2, check with your doctor before use.

How Anabolic Steroids Cause Hair Loss

Anabolic steroids can potentially have a variety of hormonal side effects in men, including infertility, reduced libido, and hair loss. Studies on the effect of anabolic steroids on hair growth remain inconsistent as male pattern baldness does not appear to be a common side effect. However, some research does suggest that androgenic alopecia caused by anabolic steroid use may be more common in men who already have a predisposition to hair loss.7

The potential still remains as anabolic steroids naturally result in increased testosterone levels. High testosterone leads to a higher concentration of DHT. Excess levels of DHT are known to cause hair loss in men and women. A genetic sensitivity to DHT causes hair follicles to gradually shrink. As the hair follicles slowly get smaller, the hairs active growth phase becomes shorter, while the resting phase extends. The result is thinning hair and eventual hair loss.

How Do Medications That Cause Osteoporosis Do It

Every class of medication is different. So each and every of the medications that cause osteoporosis can cause effect on bone density in a different manner.

Antacids reduce nutrient absorbtion and that causes problems.

Antiandrogens and breast cancer drugs alter hormone function and that causes problems.

Antidepressants disrupt serotonin uptake and that causes problems.

Aromatase inhibitors decrease bone mineral density.

Etc, etc.

As different medications affect the body and how the body works in different ways, they can also play a role in the Tendonitis dynamic.

See What Causes Tendonitis?EVERYTHING in the body is connected. As one thing is affected, everything else must respond/react/adjust.

This brief and incomplete overview of medications that cause osteoporosis isn’t an argument for NOT taking these drugs, as sometimes they are necessary and life saving .

However, knowing that the drugs that one is taking can directly cause and/or lead to osteoporosis allows one to take countermeasurs to keep bone density strong.

    Functions & Benefits Of Glutathione

Glutathione is a broadly beneficial compound that the human body makes on its own. It is available as a supplement, but supplemental glutathione has poor bioavailability, meaning that not a lot of it is absorbed from the gut to the bloodstream. Plus, the FDA has not approved glutathione supplements for any medical purpose.

Thus, this section focuses primarily on the benefits of healthy glutathione levels in the body, not on the effects of taking it as a supplement.

Common Side Effects Of Inhaled Steroids

Inhaled corticosteroids, also known as steroids or glucocorticoids, can cause side effects like insomnia or thrush, and strategies like rinsing your mouth after you use them might help reduce some side effects.

These medications are generally used on an ongoing basis to control symptoms of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease , or other chronic breathing disorders.

Inhaled steroids work by mimicking cortisol, a hormone produced by the body that normally reduces inflammation. Corticosteroids alleviate chronic airway inflammation, reducing bronchoconstriction and bronchospasms .

Corticosteroids should not be confused with anabolic steroids, which are used to stimulate muscle growth.

How Do Drugs Cause Hair Loss

Drugs cause hair loss by interfering with the normal cycle of scalp hair growth. During the anagen phase, which lasts for two to seven years, the hair grows. During the telogen phase, which lasts about three months, the hair rests. At the end of the telogen phase, the hair falls out and is replaced by new hair.

Medications can lead to two types of hair loss: telogen effluvium and anagen effluvium. Learn more about other causes of baldness.

Telogen effluvium is the most common form of drug-induced hair loss. It usually appears within 2 to 4 months after taking the drug. This condition causes the hair follicles to go into their resting phase and fall out too early. People with telogen effluvium usually shed between 30% to 70% more than the normal 100 and 150 hairs a day.

Anagen effluvium is hair loss that occurs during the anagen phase of the hair cycle, when the hairs are actively growing. It prevents the matrix cells, which produce new hairs, from dividing normally. This type of hair loss usually occurs within a few days to weeks after taking the medication. It’s most common in people who are taking chemotherapy drugs for cancer and is often severe, causing people to lose most or all of the hair on their head, as well as their eyebrows, eyelashes, and other body hairs.

The severity of drug-induced hair loss depends on the type of drug and dosage, as well as your sensitivity to that drug.
