Can Dysport Cause Hair Loss

Things To Know About Dysport The Natural

Can Stress Cause Hair Loss? | Hair Loss Expert Dr. Phipps

There are multiple ways to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, but one of the most effective ways to do so is through neuromodulators. Dysport® , one of the more popular neurotoxins on the market, is a prescription injection for adults under 65 years old proven to help temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, an area of concern that many of us struggle with.

Like any medication, there are potential side effects. For Dysport, the most common side effects are nose and throat irritation, headache, injection site pain, injection site skin reaction, upper respiratory tract infection, eyelid swelling, eyelid drooping, sinus inflammation, and nausea.

While it may be common knowledge that Dysport can smooth out wrinkles, theres so much more to it. Here, we break down 10 important facts to know about the injectable, so you can decide whether or not its right for you.

Dysport Treatment: What To Expect

A Dysport treatment takes only a few minutes to perform. Where, and how many injections you receive depends upon the depth of the lines and creases. The care with which we perform injections makes the difference in results at Beck Aesthetic Surgery, all procedures are performed under the guidance of one of the most accomplished, board-certified plastic surgeons in the USA, Dr. Joel Beck.

Many Are Good Candidates For Dysportwith A Few Exceptions

The good news is that many are good candidates for Dysport, says Dr. Ibrahim. The best way to know if this treatment is right for you is to discuss Dysport with your provider. Dysport is not right for you if you are allergic to cows milk protein or any of Dysports other ingredients, have had hypersensitivity to any neuromodulators or any other ingredient, or have an infection at the planned injection site. People that should avoid Dysport are those that are currently pregnant, currently breastfeeding, over 65, or have a neurological disorder like myasthenia graves, adds Dr. Ibrahim.

Can Too Much Testosterone Cause My Hair To Fall Out Or Is Dht Or Telogen Effluvium To Blame

Patients often ask me, Do testosterone boosters cause hair loss? In general, just about any type of hormone imbalance can cause hair shedding. This is the case for patients with high levels of DHT, which can cause male and female pattern hair loss as described above. So, are you becoming bald due to high testosterone level? No. High levels of DHT may cause hair loss but testosterone therapy itself does not cause baldness.

That being said, some people may experience temporary hair shedding after starting hormone therapy but its not due to higher testosterone or estrogen levels.

Most patients who come to us with low T or estrogen imbalance also suffer from nutritional deficiencies. Both hormone imbalances and nutrient deficiencies may cause hair to go dormant. That means hair isnt growing OR falling out like it does during a healthy hair cycle.

Once you optimize necessary hormones, vitamins and other nutrients, the hair wakes up and wants that dead, brittle hair to hit the road. This can lead to rapid hair sheddingincluding all of the old, dead hair that lingered past its expiration date. This is a temporary condition known as telogen effluvium, which can last several months.

While many people errantly assume high testosterone levels cause hair shedding, high DHT levels and telogen effluvium are often the culprit. Of the two, telogen effluvium is much more common. For every instance of high DHT levels we see in our practice, well see 40 cases of telogen effluvium.

Most Common Causes Of Pattern Hair Loss

Anyone can experience hair loss, but it is most commonly seen in men. Baldness typically refers to excessive hair loss from your scalp, and hereditary hair loss is the most common cause. Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on the circumstances.

Hereditary Hair Loss

The most common cause of hair loss is genetic. This type of hair loss typically occurs gradually with aging and develops in predictable patterns.

Hormonal or Medical Hair Loss

Many conditions can cause hair loss, including hormonal changes due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, thyroid problems, and other medical conditions.

Stress

A general thinning of hair can occur several months after physical or emotional trauma. This type of hair loss is temporary.

Radiation

Radiation therapy can cause the hair not to grow back the same as it once was.

Medications and supplements

Certain medications, such as those used for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart issues, and high blood pressure, can cause hair loss.

I Heard Of This Before

Even though botox is supposed to be absorbed after a few hours, there have been a couple people Ive heard of that have had similar stories with the 2 procedures very close together. I guess that the edema from the Fraxel has caused migration of the Botox, but cant be sure. In that case, it might take a few months to resolve.

Results From Botox On Sale Were Bad Dont Always Go For The Cheapest Price

Sometimes, the only way for a practice to attract new clients is to put their Botox on sale. Be warned, it doesnt always get you to the results you were expecting. Just because someone is in the news or advertises a lot, does not mean they are good injectors. Often, it just means they have a great marketing department. Correcting bad Botox can be done in certain cases but not all. Its unfortunate that this happened to you. When you go in for a cosmetic procedure you expect to look better, not worse, after getting treated. This is an all to familiar story that I see almost everyday. It ends up costing even more than going to the regular priced physician, as well as more time, and frustration. Best advice, go to someone you are comfortable with, your friends recommend, and has been doing it for years. Ive been injecting since 1994 and have previously taught other physicians how to inject.

What Should I Avoid While Taking Dysport

How Can A Dermatologist Diagnose Hair Loss

If youâre losing hair, visiting a medical dermatology clinic is one of the best steps you can take. A dermatologist can assess your hair loss and pinpoint a specific diagnosis. They will then find an appropriate treatment if applicable.

During your appointment, the dermatologist will ask you questions about your hair loss and overall health. Theyâll ask how long youâve noticed the hair loss, whether youâre taking any medications, and if you have a family history of hair loss or baldness.

The doctor will also examine your nails and scalp, as the health of these areas might provide clues for diagnosis. The specific pattern of your hair loss can indicate a specific diagnosis as well. In some cases, they will perform a blood test and scalp biopsy to check for medical conditions that might cause hair to fall out.

  • Laser therapy: A low-level laser treatment can safely stimulate hair growth and help patients with hereditary hair loss as well as from chemotherapy or alopecia areata.
  • Platelet-rich plasma : PRP contains vascular and protein growth factors that boost circulation to the scalp, sending vital nutrients necessary for hair growth. What Can Dysport Accomplish

Dysport is most effective on lines and wrinkles on the upper portion of the face, such as:

  • Frown lines of the glabella the 11 between the eyebrows
  • Crows feet and lateral brow area
  • Horizontal forehead creases
  • Bunny lines on the nose

Patients often inquire about the Chemical Brow Lift. Drs. Velargo and Hendrick are skilled in this technique, whereby the brow depressor muscles are relaxed giving the brow about 5-7 mm of natural lifting from the unopposed pull of the brow elevator muscle. It is possible however, that they might recommend a surgical Brow Lift or Forehead Lift if the desired results cannot be accomplished with Dysport alone.

Dysport may also be used to treat muscular hyperactivity in the lower face and neck in select patients. It can, for example, be used to help soften lines around the mouth, turn the corners of the mouth up, and even diminish the appearance of neck bands.

For lines and wrinkles that are caused by volume loss rather than muscle activity, dermal fillers such as Juvéderm®, Juvéderm Voluma®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Belotero®, or Radiesse® are recommended. Drs. Velargo and Hendrick might suggest the use of both types of injectables in order to diminish different kinds of wrinkles.

Who Is Candidate For Dysport Injections

Most patients with mild to moderate dynamic wrinkles who are healthy are often good candidates for this and many other cosmetic injectables available at Georgia Dermatology Partners. During a consultation visit and initial evaluation, our skilled professionals can determine if patients can benefit from Dysport. In cases where severe skin laxity and aging are present, surgical interventions such as forehead lifts and facelifts may still be the best option for these individuals.

Are There Side Effects

Does smoking cause hair loss? Secondary hair loss cause

Every drug has side effects, and Botox and Dysport are no exception. Luckily, any side effects from these treatments tend to be minor and short-lived. In one to five percent of cases, there can be mild droopiness of the eyelid or eyebrow, which usually goes away within two weeks, and some patients experience slight bruising.

What Is Botox And Dysport

Botox and Dysport are both popular injectable treatments that give the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. They are both highly purified botulinum toxins that can temporarily erase or reduce horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines, and crows feet by blocking the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles to contract hundreds of times a day and cause etching lines in the skin. Botox and Dysport can also lift the corners of the mouth that sag with age, smooth out the pin cushion look in some chins, soften smokers lines around the mouth, and soften vertical lines in the neck.

Second Dose May Pack A Punch

Don’t be surprised if your side effects of the second vaccine dose are more severe. “Grade 3 solicited local adverse reactions were more frequently reported after Dose 2 than Dose 1,” Moderna’s statement reads. These reactions include swelling, pain, body aches, headache and fever. This is common of other vaccines, as the body is working extra hard to build up immunity.

Answer: Eyebrow Hair Loss After Botox

Eyebrow hair loss is not a reported side effect of Botox or injection of fillers such a Juvederm. There are medical causes of eyebrow hair loss such as alopecia areata and thyroid disease. It sounds like you need to consult with a board-certified dermatologist to explore other possible causes. Good luck!

What Type of Vitamin Deficiency Causes Hair Loss?

Eyebrow hair loss secondary to Botox has never been reported. Swelling secondary to the injections probably caused the temporary drooping of the eyebrows and eyelids. Hopefully this swelling also led to a temorary hair loss. Although I’m not aware of any similar cases, I suggest you try the application of Latisse to your brows.

Are There Any Differences With The Procedures

The process for both Dysport and Botox are exactly the same. Your injectable journey starts off with an initial consultation with your dermatologist. The dermatologist checks your current medical history, assesses the current wrinkles on the face, and comes up with a game plan. Sometimes, that game plan contains both Dysport and Botox in the same session.

Botox and Dysport are non-invasive procedures that take less than 30 minutes in some cases. Its not uncommon for patients to have their injectable on their lunch break. Compared to invasive procedures, injectables have shorter recovery and high success rate. The biggest difference during the procedure would be the injectable used at the time.

Your doctor will mark off the intended injection sites, then use a topical agent to numb the skin. Your doctor will then inject the Botox or Dysport in the appropriate spots. Dysport injections may at times be deeper than Botox injections. The deeper shot helps to cover the wider treatment areas. After checking your skin to make sure all goes well, you can leave and go about your day. Your doctor will give you some simple dos and donts such as:

  • Avoiding alcohol for at least 48 hours.
  • Do not massage your face or injection areas to avoid spreading the neuromodulator to other parts of the face.
  • Avoiding exercise or strenuous activity for at least 4 hours.
  • Avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours.
  • Do not lay down for 3 hours after.
