+ What Diseases And Problems Can Be Treated
This will depend on the type of degenerative condition you have. A specialist will evaluate you and discuss your candidacy for stem cell therapy. After you have a complete understanding of the potential risks and benefits for your recommended treatment and would like to explore this avenue of treatment, you can be considered for our cellular therapies. Of course, even though its a minimally invasive procedure, you will still need to be medically cleared to participate in the procedure.
How Much Does A Stem Cell Hair Transplant Cost
Pricing on stem cell hair treatments is still undetermined as this method is in its infancy.
Hair clinics and specialists offering their own stem cell procedures tend to avoid listing treatment costs on their websites. Instead, many invite prospective patients to contact them to find out how much theyll pay.
What Are Stem Cells
Stem cells are, what one could call, parent cells. They have the ability to self-renew, and they can evolve into other types of cells. Hair has its own stem cells in a pocket in the hair follicle, which divide and differentiate and are integral to hair regeneration.
The goal of stem cell therapy is to introduce new all-rounder stem cells in the pocket, which can transform into hair stem cells. The source of the all-rounder stem cells could be:
- Fat cells
- Bone marrow
- Hair follicles of the unaffected areas
Treatment with stem cells is a part of the regenerative medicine field. Regenerative medicines are innovative ways to repair or regenerate the defective cells or tissues in the body by acting on the very basic step of cell division.

Using Stem Cells To Treat Hair Loss
At the most recent annual meeting in June of the International Society for Stem Cell Research, Alexey Terskikh, PhD, presented his findings from new research that appears to grow life-like hair in mice that dont have hair because of genetic immunodeficiencies.
Terskikh, an associate professor at Sanford Burnham Prebys Development, Aging, and Regeneration Program in La Jolla, California, said he was able to grow hair on the mice using human induced pluripotent stem cells , or genetically reprogrammed adult cells that act like those found when the human body is just developing.
Terskikhs research focused on dermal papilla cells, or those inside the hair follicle that control hair growth, thickness, and length.
This is a critical breakthrough in the development of cell-based hair loss therapies and the regenerative medicine field, Terskikh said in a press release.
Terskikh took his discovery and co-founded Stemson Therapeutics, a new company that plans to license the technology for commercial application.
But Dr. David Jin, CEO and president of Avalon GloboCare, says Terskikhs research isnt much of a breakthrough, as Japanese scientist Shinya Yamanaka won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2012 for his discovery of iPSCs. Terskikhs research builds off that.
Because skin is accessible, it represents an attractive arena to test new types of therapies, and generating new hair would be an exciting advance, Oro told Healthline.
How Does Stem Cell Therapy For Hair Loss Work
At the moment, PRP treatment is the primary stem cell therapy being used to regrow hair. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma or plasma that has been centrifuged to create a thick concentration of platelets. Platelets play a large role in your bodys normal healing process. Once activated, they send special proteins called growth factors to nearby stem cells, which begin repairing damaged tissue.
PRP hair regeneration therapy involves injecting a combination of your own platelets and stem cells into the site where hair loss is happening. This is designed to repair and activate dormant hair follicles. In simple terms, the process involves four main steps:
This type of treatment is generally considered friendly to patients since it doesnt involve surgery or transplanting hair follicles. PRP therapy uses your own cells for healing. More research is needed to understand the process fully, but many scientists believe that PRP injections affect the hair follicles themselves.

What Therapies Are Being Studied To Regrow Hair
Stem cell research is exciting. It represents the pinnacle of natural healing. In the future, scientists and medical professionals hope to be able to prompt stem cells to create any kind of tissue from scratch, such as nerve cells for people with spinal injuries or new hair follicles for baldness. A quick procedure would eliminate bald spots completely. Were not there yet, but the future looks bright.
Signals And Signaling Cells Within Hfsc Niche
Hair follicle stem cell niche. The HFSC niche is composed of various component cells, such as dermal papilla, preadipocytes, adipocytes, immune cells and nerves. Systemic hormones also regulate HFSCs directly or indirectly through the HFSC niche cells. Both activating and suppressive signals are present within the HFSC niche. The probability of HFSC activation depends on the summation of all the activating and inhibitory signals

What Is Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy is a regenerative medicine that helps rejuvenate the human body. It works by replacing old cells with new ones. Thus, it leads to increased health and decreased disease. Stem cell therapy can be used to treat different types of diseases. This includes:
– Degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease
– Chronic heart failure
– kidney failure and more
Stem Cell Therapy has been shown to help people feel better both physically. As well as, mentally by decreasing pain levels and increasing mobility.
Thus, stem cells are undifferentiated cells capable of both integration and multiplication. This means that these cells not only divide and multiply in number. They are also differentiated into specialized cells and tissues. They are like building blocks that can be encouraged to form into new, healthy tissues. Moreover, to replace diseased or injured cells.

Microneedling Helps Increase Collagen Production
The tiny needles used during a microneedling procedure, whether on the face or on the scalp, are able to stimulate collagen production. But how does this benefit your scalp? How does it promote hair growth?
Its important to note that nearly 80% of your skin is made up of collagen. As such, collagen is a vital component of strong, structurally sound skin. However, as we age, our collagen begins to decline. This process can begin as early as the mid-20s.
Collagen in your scalp provides the scaffolding for hair follicles. This allows follicles to remain healthy, allowing them to continue growing hair. When your scalp is suffering from a lack of collagen, youre likely to see a slowing in hair growth in extreme cases, your follicles may become dormant altogether.
Recovery And Results From Stem Cell Treatment For Hair Loss
The recovery from stem cell treatment is relatively easy. There is very little downtime involved. While its fine to go back to work the day after treatment, you should avoid rigorous exercise for at least a week.
However, you may notice some minor discomfort in the scalp and in the area where you got liposuction. Within about six to eight months, you should see visible improvements in your hairs thickness.

Does Prp Contain Stem Cells
A normal PRP treatment does not include any stem cells. PRP involves concentrating only growth factors and platelets to be injected into the patient. Often, patients and sometimes doctors confuse PRP with concentrated stem cells but blood is not the optimal source to utilize stem cells. Originally stem cells would come from fat collected during liposuction. But that process was very labor intensive and not worth the effort especially when considering that stem cells are not as potent as the source patient aged. We now use the stem cells derived from the umbilical cord, and they make a much larger impact than PRP or stem cells previously taken from fat.

Hair Loss An Issue Our Stem Cell Therapy For Hair Re
More than 80 million people in the United States deal with hair loss everyday. It can be a very discouraging condition as hair is one of the most important parts of any persons makeup. Many men and women walk around and feel the shame and stigma of hair loss. Sadly, the first thing that a person is judged on most of the time is their looks. Hair loss can significantly reduce quality of life and lead to depression and self esteem issues.
There are a number of different causes of hair loss and a majority of the time it is not the patients fault. There are a number of genetic conditions that prevent any hair growth at all. Thankfully, stem cells are rapidly solving the problem of hair loss. Stem cells will lead to more vibrant and darker hair for anyone that is experiencing hair loss.
First we should discuss exactly what in the body is responsible for hair growth.
The Hair Follicle
The hair follicle controls all parts of hair characteristics. The cell that is responsible for hair growth rate, length, and thickness is the dermal papilla, which resides inside of the hair follicle. The dermal papilla could be the key to solving human hair loss.
There are currently 10 clinical trials that are investigating the use of stem cells to cure baldness. A new technique was revealed in 2019 that has the potential to cure baldness in anyone and produce natural human hair.

Looking Further At Stem Cell
A 2020 paper from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine , gives us a good summary of the current research: Novel discoveries revolving around stem-cell based therapies provide encouraging steps towards developing more effective and successful hair loss treatments. Although these initial steps towards such discoveries are hopeful, there is still a limited amount of clinical data to fully support stem-cell based therapies. . . While results are certainly hopeful, larger and more robust double blind controlled clinical trials are needed to further assess the exact mechanisms, therapeutic potential and safety of stem-cell based approaches to hair loss management.

Limitations Of Stem Cell Therapy
Even with all the promising studies, stem cell therapy is still far from being the first-line therapy for hair loss because of the following limitations:
- No standard method of preparation, no clear guidelines about the amount of the material used.
- Not an ideal option for severe hair loss.
- Unclear how often the procedure needs to be done and how long the effects last.
- No comparison studies with the gold standard therapies for patterned hair loss.
- Bone marrow stem cell extraction can be painful.
- Extraction method is complicated- Quality control very strenuous.
- Legal grey zone in many countries because of human tissue processing restrictions.
Regenerating Hair Follicle Stem Cells
- Harvard University
- Researchers have identified the biological mechanism of how chronic stress leads to hair loss. They found that the stress hormone corticosterone causes hair follicle stem cells to stay in an extended resting phase, without regenerating tissue. The stress signal was first received by dermal cells surrounding the hair follicle, preventing them from releasing Gas6, a molecule that activates stem cells. When researchers added back Gas6, stem cells could regenerate hair even under stress.
Harvard University researchers have identified the biological mechanism of how chronic stress impairs hair follicle stem cells, confirming long-standing observations that stress might lead to hair loss.
In a mouse study published in the journal Nature, the researchers found that a major stress hormone causes hair follicle stem cells to stay in an extended resting phase, without regenerating the hair follicle and hair. The researchers identified the specific cell type and molecule responsible for relaying the stress signal to the stem cells, and showed that this pathway can be potentially targeted to restore hair growth.
“This result suggests that elevated stress hormones indeed have a negative effect on hair follicle stem cells,” Hsu said. “But the real surprise came when we took out the source of the stress hormones.”

What Is Stem Cell Therapy For Hair Loss
This procedure for hair loss involves the injection of mesenchymal stem cells, which come from the human umbilical cord into the parts of the scalp affected by hair loss. They are not embryonic, which means they are not from an embryo. The umbilical cord where the cells are taken from comes from pregnant females within 36 to 40 weeks gestation age. After the cells are injected into the scalp, hair growth starts at around the 1 month mark, peaking in about 4-6 months. Stems cells are ordered with FedEx overnight delivery to our office, arriving on dry ice. The package is opened in front of the patient and mixed with PRP, and then injected into the scalp. The entire process of Stem Cell injection takes about 1.5 hours. Patients can go home the same day without any issue.
Who Benefits From Stem Cell Therapy And Prp
Stem cell therapy in combination with PRP therapy is a good option for people who may not be a good candidate for hair transplant surgery, or who do not wish to have the surgery.
The PRP + stem cell treatment is most effective for people who are in the early stages of hair loss. Stem cell treatment may also be a good option for people who do not have enough quality donor hair to do a transplant.
