How Does Hair Grow

Toppik Tutorial | Cover Up Bald Spots and Fake a Perfect Hairline for Thinning Hair

Your scalp is home to about 100,000 hairs. Each one has its own life cycle. A follicle produces a single hair that grows at a rate of half an inch per month. It hangs in there for 2 to 6 years, then stops for about a month. When the next cycle starts up, that hair falls out. At any given time, most of your locks are in the growth phase.

Style Tips For Thinning Hair

Ask your stylist. They might suggest a short cut, a different part, maybe a gentle body wave. Try a styling product for thin hair to hide bare spots. Apply it to the root area then gently blow dry to build volume. Let your hair air dry for a while before you use the dryer. Special cosmetics can disguise parts of your scalp that show. Think about keratin fiber hair cosmetics. Sprinkle them over the thinning patch. Their static charge makes hair look thicker.

A Ponytail With Tease

If wearing a normal ponytail hairstyle shows your thinning hair on or hair loss pattern, then you can consider a ponytail with a tease. Take a small section in the front of your hair and flip it upside down. A ponytail gives you a very sleek and elegant look and they are very comfortable to carry all day.

To give them volume you can use backcombing in the front part and then make a pony. For this, youll have to begin combing it gently in the opposite direction that you normally would. This will create a teased look. When done, flip it back over and place your hair in the ponytail.

Itll create a full, thick look while keeping your hair up and out of your face.

Changes That Help Prevent Hair Loss Due To Tight Hairstyles

How To Hide Thinning Hair In The Front Woman

Anyone who frequently wears a tightly pulled hairstyle can develop hair loss. In fact, theres actually a medical term for this type of hair loss. Its called traction alopecia .

You can reduce your risk of developing this type of hair loss by following these dermatologists tips.

  • Avoid frequently wearing hairstyles that pull on your hair. Every once in a while, its OK to wear your hair tightly pulled back, but you want to avoid wearing a tightly pulled hairstyle every day. The constant pulling can cause strands of your hair to break or fall out.In time, the continuous pulling can damage your hair follicles. If you damage your hair follicles, your hair cannot grow back, so you develop permanent hair loss.Hairstyles that constantly pull on your hair include:

  • Buns, ponytails, and up-dos that are tightly pulled
  • Cornrows
  • Hair extensions or weaves
  • Tightly braided hair
  • Avoid wearing hairstyles that pull on your hair

If you often wear your hair tightly pulled back, the first sign of hair loss may be broken hairs around your hairline or thinning hair where your hairstyle pulls tightly.

  • Loosen up the hairstyle. When you wear your hair pulled back, loosen the hairstyle a bit, especially around your hairline. To reduce the constant pulling, you can:

  • Loosen braids, especially around your hairline
  • Wear a braided style for no longer than two to three months
  • Opt for thicker braids and dreadlocks
  • Loosen up your hairstyle

If your hairstyle feels painful, the style is too tight.

Reasons For Hair Thinning At The Front

Baldness starts from hair thinning at the front and temples. We do not take it seriously and leave it without any treatment. Every person suffers from hair loss in their entire lifetime. If we talk about female baldness, it doesnt need to always start from the front. Instead, it can be diffused all over the head.

Hair thinning happens due to many reasons like hormonal imbalance, genetics, pollution, chemical treatment, stress, low protein diet, too much of hair styling, etc. In severe cases of hair loss, a person gets patchy baldness, which is also known as alopecia.

The medications and treatments may take a lot of time to regrow voluminous hair. But meantime, it is necessary to hide the baldness. There are many long-term treatments and quick solutions to treat or conceal thin hairline.

The Way You Style Your Hair Can Make A Big Difference

Dont go too short and dont go too long if you have thin or thinning hair. If its too short, like really cropped on the sides, it will show your scalp because there just isnt enough to cover it. I love cropped sides and tried it for a couple of months , but I was constantly battling the coverage. I cant do an undercut, which I would LOVE, for the same reason. You can see below a picture from when it was cut too short on the sides, and I had to do major damage control every day.

If its too long, thin hair will just look stringy and sad like old yarn. Dont hold on to length that is doing you no favors. Long hair doesnt make you feminine or beautiful. Short hair doesnt make you look unfeminine. These days any length is attractive as long as it maximizes what you have and flatters your features. Im not saying you have to have a pixie. I have had pixies off and on for 10 years because I love them, not because I had to. In fact when my hair was at its worst, a pixie would have been less flattering because it would have shown more soft spots, as my stylist calls them. Keep thin hair at least above the shoulders. A bob is a great hairstyle and can still be long enough for your beloved ponytail. It also comes in a variety of lengths and shapes.

Go easy on the layers. The more layers you have the thinner the ends will look.

And then there is the pixie, which I LOVE. Obviously.

Hair oils are our fave, as certain oils promote certain benefits to the hair. Castor Oil is rich in Vitamin E, proteins, and minerals, and has anti-microbial properties that works wonders for the hair! To use Castor Oil in your hair, apply it on scalp and run through the hair, leave it in overnight, and wash it with a mild shampoo the next day. This oil is quite thick and can be a bit difficult to wash out, however, with regular use, your hair should grow thick, moisturized, and lustrous. Layers Around The Face

Layers around the face work well for women with receding hairlines. The layers will create volume and will hide the hairline completely. No matter if you part your hair down the middle or to the side, when you have front layers, no one can tell what your hairline looks like!

The layers in your hair will also give your hair a thicker look. Try this haircut for thin hair to look thicker. For the days when you want to wear your hair up, consider placing a headband around your hairline. Headbands come in a variety of styles, and you can choose one with a sporty look or one with a hippie/chill look and many others.

    Treatment For Hair Loss

Hair loss treatment usually works well. Also, most cases that are treated early wont cause scarring.

The type of treatment your child needs will depend on the underlying cause of the hair loss.

Many children with small patches of alopecia areata will have hair regrowth without treatment. If your childs bald patches are getting worse, your doctor might prescribe corticosteroid cream or another treatment for the affected area for a few weeks. If your child has complete or rapid hair loss, your doctor might prescribe an oral medicine.

Some older children might feel upset or stressed about their bald patches. Talking with a GP or counsellor might help.

    Cover It Up With Extensions

Julia Venturin, hair extensions expert and affiliate marketing coordinator at Luxy Hair recommends extensions to mask thinning. Luxy Hair extensions are a great way for adding thickness to thin and fine hair, without causing any damage to your natural hair or hindering hair growth in the meantime. Our Seamless Collection is bound with silicone rather than fabric, which means that the base of the weft is 50% thinner than our Classic wefts. This ensures that the wefts lay totally flat against your head so that your thin hair can glide easily over and hide them, she explains.

Disguising Your Part With Cut And Coloring

  • 1Cut your hair shorter. It may be tempting to let your hair grow out to create more volume, but the opposite is actually true. Shorter hair usually appears thicker and healthier. Show your stylist where you part your hair and ask them to cut it in short layers moving out from there.XResearch source
  • It can be scary to cut inches off your hair, so start off slowly. Gradually trim away inches until you reach a length that makes your part look good.
  • Try going with a long bob if you have shoulder-length hair.
  • 2Get a textured cut. Request that your barber or stylist trim your hair at an angle. This will create more movement, which will make your hair appear thicker. Intermix layers around the part area as well. However, be aware that maintaining this type of cut will require frequent trims.XResearch source
  • 3Add bangs if your scalp is visible close to your forehead. Ask your stylist to cut your bangs so that they begin higher up on your head, which will make them look fuller. Place a bit of volumizing gel onto your bangs to give them even more of a boost. In general, adding bangs draws attention downward to your face and away from your scalp.XResearch source
  • 4Keep roots touched up. If your roots are a different color than the rest of your hair, it will automatically draw peoples eyes to your part. Make appointments to re-color roots about once a month. If you have overall highlights, youll probably need those redone every 6 to 12 weeks.XResearch source
