Ways To Regrow Lost Hair By A Dermatologist

Menopausal Hair Loss? Regrow Hair Before After

Losing hair can be frustrating.

You might realize that your hair is much thinner than before looking at a mirror one day, and things might go downhill from there.

You see, the change in appearance is only the tip of the iceberg.

Studies found out that hair loss can also harm your mental health, hurting your self-image and confidence, and resulting in a low quality of life overall.

My years of experience as a dermatologist where Ive done hundreds of hair transplants also confirm that.

So lets change that.

I assure you, except for some extreme cases, theres always a way to get back to your natural hair.

Just like there are many different ways to stop hair loss.

From natural methods to surgeries, Ive compiled 32 different methods you can try to regain lost hair and treat male pattern baldness.

Lets see if we can help you:

A Proper Growth Shampoo

One of the first things you should do is stop using a chemical shampoo.

A shampoo which contains chemicals will kill you hair follicles over the long term.

Most shampoos contain these harsh chemicals because they are needed for the shampoo to smell nice, have a nice texture and make a nice foamy lather.

Unfortunately, the same chemicals that give the nice smell, texture and foam are also destructive to hair follicles.

Most shampoos use the same foaming chemical that they use in car washes to give a nice foam.

In fact all of those chemicals damage the hair follicles, strip away protective oils, cause dandruff, and damage the scalp.

I use the Hairguard Shampoo, and I only use it once a week. It contains no harsh chemicals and is packed with natural ingredients that have been scientifically proven to be beneficial in hair regrowth.

One example of these beneficial ingredients is Oleuropien which is completely natural and yet it beat minoxidil in a head-to-head study for hair regrowth:

See here the hair length after 28 days comparing Oleuropein, minoxidil and a control:

OP = Oleuropein

CON = Control

And the number of viable dermal papilla cells :

This is why I like using Oleuropein in my shampoo, along with other hair growing natural ingriendts that come in the Hairguard Shampoo.

Malaika Arora Isnt The Only One To Have Suffered Hair Loss Post Recovery From Covid

A growing number of coronavirus patients, including actress Alyssa Milano and Malaika Arora have suffered from post COVID-19 hair loss. Dr Niketa Sonavane, cosmetic dermatologist and hair specialist at Ambrosia Aesthetics, explains that the hair loss thats seen following COVID-19 is due to telogen effluvium .

Telogen effluvium is a common cause of temporary hair loss after any stressful event. It is known to occur after high fever illnesses such as dengue, malaria and typhoid fever. In case of COVID-19 the hair shedding is linked to stress and trauma of battling the infection, she says. TE is characterized by sudden hair shedding 2-3 months after the triggering event. You might notice clumps of your hair falling out especially while shampooing and combing. Dr Niketa shares easy and effective tips to control post COVID hair fall.

Can My Hair Grow Back If I Have Alopecia

Millions of Americans have hair loss. The most common type of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, or hereditary hair loss. Men and women can have it, but its far more common in men, and it accounts for some 95% of all male hair loss.

Whether youve noticed a slowly receding hairline in the mirror or you already have a large bald patch, you know that hair loss can be distressing, and you might wonder if theres anything you can do to stop it. Growing hair back thats fallen out isnt always possible, but that doesnt mean you have to accept baldness as part of life.

Oswald Mikell, MD, and our team at Dermatology Associates of the Lowcountry partner with men and women to fight hair loss and its effects. From diagnosis to treatment, we offer customized solutions to preserve the hair you have and encourage hair growth.

How To Regrow Hair After A Crown Hair Loss

Hair Regrow

The method depends on the hair loss cause. The best solution is a hair transplant if it is due to androgenic alopecia.

Several medicines inhibit androgen production, but as this hormone is crucial for mens health, they have numerous side effects, including sexual dysfunction and mood swings. Moreover, those medicines are efficient only if taken daily. If not, the hair which grew thanks to the treatment falls. Medication for hair loss is not a long-term solution.

The only long-term solution for androgenic alopecia is a hair transplant. This technique uses the hair from the back of the head, which is naturally resistant to androgen, to cover the bald and low-density areas.

Many hair transplant techniques are more or less adequate to give a natural result. For crown hair loss regrowth, the best hair transplant technique is DHI. This method of direct hair implantation offers very natural and long-lasting results to get ones hair back on the crown area. Thanks to the precision of this technique, it is possible to draw a very natural-looking frontline according to the patients wish.

Once implanted, the grafts grow like natural hair, and they can be cut or dyed, just like regular hair. They are resistant to androgen, and they wont fall, even if the balding process continues.

Eliminate Allergies That Trigger Autoimmune Responses

In the section above I talked about how autoimmune responses can aggravate hair loss by increasing hair follicle sensitivity to DHT.In this section Ill show you how some of the foods you might be eating could be triggering an equally harmful response making it almost impossible for you to get back your hair.

Most people know about having fast allergic reactions to certain foods, the main ones being peanuts and shellfish. But most people arent aware that slow allergic reactions can also occur. There are certain foods and food groups which can cause these allergic reactions, and these allergies then go on to trigger autoimmune problems and inflammation both of which lead to hair loss. The main foods are:

  • Deadly nightshades
  • Eggs

The most common of these is gluten, so lets take a closer look at that. The other foods are much less common allergies but its still worth considering them as a possible cause for allergies. Most people have no problems with them in their diet.

The best way to tell if you have a food allergy is to do a 2 weeks allergy test. There are blood tests you can take, but I prefer this method because it teaches you to listen to the feedback your body is giving you about foods you are eating.

For two weeks completely eliminate gluten from your diet. I recommend doing this for at least two weeks since it will take a few days for the side effects of your previous gluten diet to wear off. Notice how you feel in the second week of the test.

When To See Your Doctor

Changes to your hair are a natural part of the aging process. Healthy lifestyle choices can help you manage, slow, or prevent things that have a link to age-related hair loss.

Some symptoms can indicate an underlying health condition or quickly advancing disease that could lead to hair loss or balding. Make sure you get see your doctor if you experience:

  • Sudden patchy hair loss
  • Greater than usual hair loss when combing or washing your hair
  • Receding hairline if youre a woman

Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition like alopecia areata. This is when your immune system attacks your hair follicles. It can be brought on by severe stress.

If youre concerned about hair loss or are interested in learning more about how you can grow and keep your healthy hair as your age, your doctor can help.

Replacing your ordinary shampoo with an antifungal shampoo can help in many ways.

What Types Of Health Conditions Can Lead To Hair Loss

Does hair regrowth work? [Hair Loss Before and After]

Hair loss itself is sometimes treated as a diagnosis, but it is often asymptom of something bigger. “Hair loss can be a sign of an underlying health issue and act as an early warning system,” says Richard Firshein, an expert in integrative and precision-based medicine and founder of the Firshein Center. “The health of hair follicles is directly related to health and the functioning of our endocrine system.”

For conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome , which is often difficult to diagnose, hair thinning is often one of the first tell-tale signs along with acne and body hair caused by the increased levels of testosterone. “Patients with PCOS can have overall elevated testosterone leading to androgenetic alopecia,” explains Henry. Talking about it openly with your dermatologist, OB-GYN, or general health provider can help get you to a diagnosis and treatment plan earlier.

Medical Treatments To Arrest Hair Loss And Promote Regrowth

If your hair loss is severe or continues over 6 months, then seek help from your dermatologist or hair specialist. In addition to this, hair loss treatment such as PRP hair treatment and meso-therapy give very good hair regrowth.

Post COVID-19 hair loss is usually caused by telogen effluvium and lasts for around 6 months. Except in cases where it becomes chronic telogen effluvium, where it lasts longer. Supportive care and lifestyle changes can be effective in controlling hair fall. Medical help can control the hair fall faster.

    Symptoms Of Excessive Hair Loss

Hair Growth Success: âthere has been significant regrowthâ?

For most people, excessive hair loss is gradual, which means it happens over a long period of time. This is especially true of male-pattern baldness. Hair loss is considered excessive when it results in bald spots or hair that is noticeably thinning. In some cases, hair can fall out suddenly. This is typically caused by sudden or prolonged stress, either physical or emotional.

How Can You Treat Female Hair Loss

Regardless of the cause, the goal of treating thinning hair is to encourage the hair follicles to function to the best of their ability. Its important to have realistic goals: Of course I want my hair to go from puny shedding strands to 1970s-style Cher goddess hair, but alas, I know that is not going to happen. Before starting any treatment, it is important to consult with your dermatologist to make sure the treatment path you decide is the one that is right for you.

    Supplements

In the past, and during this particular bout of shedding, I took Nutrafol, a supplement that contains a combination of botanical ingredients and vitamins to support healthy hair follicles. It is formulated to treat hair loss in multiple ways, containing highly-concentrated botanicals to support hair at every stage of the growth cycle, Engelman explains. She also recommends Prose, particularly their Root Source product for those with thinning hair. The supplements are custom-made for each person, and theyre packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and plant extracts designed to boost our stores of nutrients and target the causes of thinning hair. They have been proven effective in clinical trials, and are a fantasticand healthyway to address hair thinning/loss, she says.

Hair Loss Shampoo For Normal Hair

    Ingredients:

    • Carrot seed oil
    • Castor oil

    Method:

Combine all ingredients in the container of your choice. Mix well. Pour over wet hair, and massage into hair and scalp for 2-3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

    Hair Benefits:

Maple syrup is delicious over pancakes or drizzled on sausage. And, while thats common knowledge, you may not know that maple syrup is actually a powerful antibacterial with soothing and nourishing properties. The benefits of this four-ingredient shampoo dont stop there, though.

The carrot seed oil is another surprising ingredient that detoxifies and stimulates the scalp. This is due to its high nutritional value, as well as its anti-fungal properties.

Castor oil is just a great addition to any shampoo, hair mask, or hair growth serum. It works as the carrier in this recipe, hydrating and nourishing the scalp, while the liquid castile soap works to gently clean and remove scalp buildup.
