The proof is in the ingredient list. Below, weve highlighted some ingredients that make this mousse great for your fine wavy hair.

  • Neem oilOne of the most versatile oils around, neem has been a staple of traditional Indian medicine for centuries. Its antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties keep your hair and scalp healthy. It also conditions dry hair without weighing it down.
  • Silk protein Silk protein can dramatically increase the shine and luster of your locks. It locks moisture inside your strands, improving their elasticity and reducing damage. Silk protein can transform dry hair and leave you with a silky-smooth mane.
  • Hibiscus extract This versatile flower extract can thicken and volumize fine hair. It adds shine, guards against dryness and breakage, and can even prevent hair loss with regular use.

How Can I Improve My 2a Hair

If youre not getting the results you want with your 2A hair, make some simple routine and product changes to improve your hair.

Some of the easiest changes to start with are switching to a more lightweight conditioner, volumizing products, and sleeping in overnight protective styles that will enhance your fine waves. Lightweight moisture will prevent your waves from being weighed down with product.

If your hair gets oily fast, switching to a lighter conditioner will prevent your roots from swimming in grease an hour after you shower. Volumizing products will give you more lift at the roots, which makes your hair look thicker and healthier.

Sleeping in protective hairstyles overnight will help enhance and bring out your natural waves without damaging your hair with hot tools. Make these 3 simple changes and see how much your fine, wavy hair improves!

What Hair Type Is Fine And Wavy

Fine, wavy hair is considered type 2A. Type 2 hair is always wavy, with 2A being fine and very slightly wavy and 2C being the coarsest, waviest type. If you have 2A hair, it will have the following characteristics:

  • Hair strands are fine
  • Waves are slight and inconsistent
  • Gets oily at the roots quickly
  • May look straight when wet
  • Waves tend to fall out without product
  • Gets frizzy when dry

Having type 2A hair is special and there are a lot of things to love about this hair type. Its lightweight, has a little natural texture perfect for beachy air dried styles, and feels oh-so-soft to the touch.

But because its both fine and wavy, it can be a challenge to find the right products for 2A hair. The most popular wave- and curl-enhancing products are usually too heavy to use on fine, wavy hair.

No worries! Weve found a list of products that are specially formulated just for your hair type and trust us these make all the difference. Keep reading to learn about the products you should use for fine wavy hair and see our top picks!

Should You Air Dry Fine Wavy Hair

You should air dry fine, wavy hair anytime you have the opportunity. If youre not in a rush to get out the door, air drying is always the healthier, less-damaging option for your hair type.

Fine hair is more susceptible to heat damage than medium or coarse textures. And since you have natural waves , your hair type is perfect for trying air-dried hairstyles and overnight styles to create next-day waves or curls.

Regular blow drying, ironing, and applying mousse, serums, hairsprays, and gels can be too much for thin hair to take. Give your hair time to breathe by going for minimal styling on some days to avoid damage.

More Is More With Styling Products With Hold

Fine hair is more likely to be delicate or kind of weak, which means it needs strength or support from stylig products to maintain its style. My hair does best with strong-hold products.

Unfortunately, I find that some products market themselves as having a strong hold but perform more like a soft/medium hold. Ive also found some products that advertise themselves as having a soft hold that perform like a hard hold. Thats frustrating! You can check out my mousse comparison post and my gel comparison post to see which hair products I find to truly have hard hold.

How To Refresh & Enhance Wavy Hair

Tips for Low Density, Thin Curls, and Fine Hair Wash Day Routine

Wavy hair has a looser curl pattern that tends to lose its shape quite quickly, so you may find that you need to refresh your hair more often in order to maintain the style until the next wash. We recommend refreshing a little every morning to ensure your waves stay bouncy and defined. Here are our top refreshing tips:

  • If you find your roots have flattened and have become a bit oily, spray some dry shampoo to absorb it and create more texture
  • Refresh on dry hair using very little product. Light textures like liquid gel or mousse work best, as they avoid weighing your hair down. Spray some water in your hands and emulsify your product of choice, to make it even lighter.
  • Use a scrunching motion to apply your stylers, to encourage waves to spring back up.

How To Fix Frizzy Wavy Hair

February 17, 2021 by Emily Evert

In my last post I talked about what causes frizzy wavy hair. There are lots of potential causes and understanding them can be really helpful so I recommend reading that. Thankfully, there are lots of potential fixes, too! If you can pin down what is causing your frizz, that is likely to help you choose the right way of getting rid of frizzy hair.

I always use my own personal photos in all of my blog posts, so Im going to do that in this blog post as well. I feel like I should post a bit of a disclaimer in this particular post. Fighting frizz is not one of my highest priorities when making my hair routine. I am okay with some frizz. I find that I have to accept a little more frizz to get the volume that I want.

Some of these techniques I do follow, but others I dont, because they contradict other methods I could use to get more volume. Anyway, so my disclaimer is that I dont follow all of these all of the time, personally.

Still, I have seen a dramatic improvement in the amount of frizz that I have over time, thanks to the method that I do implement. So, you dont necessarily have to do all of these to see improvement over time.

I plan to do some routine blog posts eventually and in those youll be able to see what techniques I do and dont utilize if my personal hair care methods are of interest to you.

How does it work? Just gather your hair, pull it into a super tight bun, spin the pins into place, and BAM! You’ve got yourself the perfect bun.

Promising review: “I’m a nursing student and have to wear my hair in a bun every day. I’ve tried all the bun makers, watched YouTube videos, and spend way too much time on getting my hair into a bun. I was able to make a pretty bun that was secure in under 30 seconds. I thought it was a fluke so I did it again, and then again. I just ordered two more packs because I know if I lose one of these, I’d have to tear the house down looking for it. I have hair to my mid back, and three of these worked perfectly for me. If I can get my hair in bun in under 30 seconds, trust me…anyone can.” Tina

Tips For Styling Wavy Not

How To Wash Wavy Hair

Wavy hair is the least dry among the curl types, so it tends to develop more oil on the scalp.

If you feel like you need to wash your wavy hair more often, we recommend using our Curl Quenching Conditioning Wash instead, as the gentler nature of the co-wash will help maintain the hairs natural moisture. You should also introduce a clarifying shampoo like our Wash & Scrub Detox Pro-Biotic in your routine once a week, to really get rid of all dirt and build-up that might weigh down your roots and make them look flatter.

And dont forget the conditioner! Moisture is super important for any curl type, including wavy hair, so make sure you always use a conditioning product every time you wash your hair. When it comes to deep conditioning, we recommend using a lighter formula that wont weigh down your hair: our Hydro Crème Soothing Mask is great for this. For hair that isnt as dry, you may choose to use this slightly less often, every other week should be enough.

What Does It Mean When Your Hair Is Wavy

First things first, how do you know if you have wavy hair? Since it lies in-between more straightforward hair types, it can be difficult to tell. According to Jonathan Colombini, LOréal Paris Creative Director of Style & Color, wavy hair can be defined by hair type 2A to 2C, ranging from low-density waves with a loose S-shape pattern to extremely defined, tight waves with a close resemblance to the ringlets of curly hair.

The Curly Girl Method Helped My Frizz

How I went from THIN DAMAGED to THICK HEALTHY hair | My hair care routine

This picture above is on a day right around the time I started the curly girl method, but when I hadnt used any products. My hair was really frizzy when I didnt use gel! I almost never wore my hair down before I started the curly girl method because my frizz was so severe, I found it embarrassing.

The photo below is after a couple of months of the curly girl method on a day when I had used gel though I suspect, not quite enough. While still frizzy, I had an immediate improvement in my frizz when using the curly girl method.

I believe the biggest helps were using gel, not brushing my hair, and sleeping on satin. I was really excited to see this overnight improvement in my frizz level just by incorporating these tricks. I started to feel like I could wear my hair down which was a real victory for me at the time.

While not a true cure, these day to day little technique tips helped a lot. The main reason they werent a true cure was because I had broken hairs near the top of my head that stuck out because of how short they were .

I slowly got less and less frizz over time as my hair grew out and as I continued to treat it gently by using gentler products, not brushing and causing more breakage and so on. My hair slowly started to feel less rough, it was softer and just felt healthier.

I am glad that I stuck with it because my hair is a lot less frizzy now, even when I use no products like in the picture below.

Use Lightweight Styling Products

Styling products never fix an issue, such as dryness, frizz, protein moisture balance etc. You do that with your washday products. Styling products are about what kind of look or style you are going for. But if you have fine hair, regardless of what look youre going for. You still need to stay within the remit of products that suit your hair type. You just simply use more or less product depending on how long or how much hair you have.

For fine wavy and curly hair, you need to use lightweight styling products, such as foams, mousses, serums, gels and hairsprays. If you have high density, curly hair you can also get success with custards if you want thick, juicy curl clumps. And maybe a milk or a lotion, if your hair is a little dry. But only use a very small amount, as these are at the highest end of the moisture-spectrum that you can use. Part three of these series on fine hair is going to be product recommendations for all the different categories, so stay tuned for that one next!

Use A Microfiber Towel To Dry Your Hair

DO NOT use a normal towel to dry your hair! Use a microfiber towel or just an old pure cotton t-shirt to dry your hair. Cotton creates less friction and therefore reduces frizzy hair. Flip your head over and scrunch up your waves into the towel or t-shirt to get out extra water and to enhance your curl definition. Use an Anti-Frizz Microfiber Towel or just pick any 100% cotton t-shirt and you are good to go. Let your hair air dry all the way or dry it with a diffuser till 70% dry. After that keep scrunching your curls with your palms to get more defined waves.
