Study 1 The Role Of Male Hormones In Baldness

This study was conducted by Dr James B Hamilton in 1942 observing 104 castrated inmates .

As castrates have very low levels testicular hormone production , Dr Hamilton made several interesting observations.

First, he noticed all of them had FULL heads of hair. Next, not only those castrated inmates had low sebaceous secretions , but also none of them showed signs of dandruff.

Then Dr Hamilton gave these castrate inmates testosterone propionate injections and found the following results: 4 out of 104 castrated men started showing male pattern baldness as well as increasing sebaceous gland and dandruff activities.

Walker points out that only 4 out of 104 reacted to testosterone injections by showing baldness, yet Dr Hamilton somehow grouped ALL men who are sexually mature into the idea that they will become bald.

He also adds another flaw of this study Artificial testosterone.

He points out that the artificial testosterone injection is different from natural testosterone production due to various negative side effects including liver toxicity, hardening tendons, heart and circulation problems, prostate cancer as well as hair loss.

Natural Strategies To Heal Hair Loss

Ready to discover the natural strategies that support hair growth? Here are my top suggestions:

Scalp Massage with Essential Oils

A study found that, when mixed with a carrier oil , the essential oils of rosemary, thyme, lavender, and cedarwood can help promote hair growth. The participants in the study massaged the carrier oil with essential oils onto their scalp daily for 7 months.

Try onion juice and aloe vera gel

A small study published in 2002 found that applying topical onion juice to the scalp increased hair growth. Two groups of participants were asked to use topical treatments on their scalps twice each day for two months: one group was given onion juice to apply to their scalp. The other was given tap water. After six weeks, hair growth was observed in close to 90 percent of the participants who used onion juice . In the tap water group, only 13 percent of the participants experienced hair growth The benefit from onion juice is thought to come from its high sulfur content. Sulfur is found in amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins, which are needed for robust hair growth. Onion juice may also stimulate collagen production, which in turn stimulates hair growth.

You can buy onion juice at most health food stores or online, or you can make your own. Grate and strain an onion to extract the juice, apply to scalp, and then wash off after 30 minutes.

Are You Looking For A Way To Grow Your Hair Quickly

Reduce DHT in Scalp and Reverse Hair loss Naturally ...

Sticking to the right vitamin regimen can actually work wonders for your hair growth, while helping to address menopausal symptoms and increasing overall well-being.

A whole host of vitamins and minerals support the well-being of your luscious locks. When it comes to vitamins for hair health and growth, keep vitamins D, B, A, C, and E at the ready. Dont forget about the importance of zinc and fulvic acid, either, when it comes to maintaining cell health and balancing hormones.

B vitamins are essential when it comes to vitamins for hair growth and health. The B vitamin biotin, in particular, is essential when it comes to preventing hair loss and promoting keratin production. These vitamins can also aid in the production of red blood cells, which are important nutrient transmitters to hair follicles and head tissues. They are water-soluble, making for easy ingestion.

Support your vitamin regimen with a diet rich in B vitamins. You can find biotin most prevalently in meat, but it is also in certain fruits, vegetables, and even grains.

While it is possible to source a lot of these vitamins from common foods, your physician may also suggest bolstering your diet with supplements. BodyLogicMDs Cosmedix vitamins are a good source of B vitamins and promote healthy hair, skin, and collagen formation with appropriate amounts of biotin, saw palmetto, and other phytonutrients.

How Long Does Pcos Hair Loss Last

Hair loss due to PCOS lasts as long as androgens block your hair follicles, and DHT binds your hair follicle receptors. The treatment takes a few weeks to clear the excess androgens and DHT, and increase oestrogen and progesterone levels.

The return of the hair-friendly hormones replenish your hair follicles. Until then, you can control excess hair loss with herbal treatments and essential oils.

The Last Word

Oestrogen and progesterone are hair-friendly hormones. In the PCOS situation, your ovaries lower the production of these hormones and produce excess male hormones, causing hair loss.

You need to make certain changes to your lifestyle to balance your hormones and rejuvenate hair growth. If you add Ayurvedic herbs to your diet and smell soothing aromatic oils, you can get back your thick and lustrous hair, besides managing your PCOS condition.

The 5 Major Flaws Of The Dht Inhibition Theory For Reversing Hair Loss

When you take a deep dive into the medical literature and thoroughly evaluate the totality of evidence behind the DHT inhibition theory, the findings reveal that the correlation between DHT and hair loss is clearly weak.

An investigative look into the inner workings of DHT inhibition reveals multiple flaws

1. The Body Hair Paradox

Despite rampant efforts to specifically block DHT production on your scalp, it is well-acknowledged in the medical literature that DHT is responsible for hair growth on every single part of your body. One study titled Dihydrotestosterone Regulates Hair Growth Through the Wnt/-Catenin Pathway in C57BL/6 Mice and InVitro Organ Culture does a great job of summarizing this important principle:

androgens are essential for hair growth. Male pseudohermaphroditism patients show nearly no beard growth or hair loss because of a lack of 5aR2, which suggests that DHT is necessary for beard growth.

Moreover, androgens regulate hair growth in both males and females However, the mechanisms by which androgens have simultaneous but different effects on one organ, the , in different areas of the body in the same individual have not been well studied.

Beard hair, pubic hair, chest hair, armpit hairwithout androgens such as DHT that increase in production during puberty, growth of body hairand thickening of said body hairjust doesnt happen.

So whats going on, then?

How To Address Hair Loss In The Early Stages

Did you know that approximately 85% of American men will experience some level of androgenic alopecia by age 50? Perhaps knowing youre not alone isnt enough to make you feel better, but understand that advancements in medical science have made it more likely to stop the signs of balding from progressing.

A study in 1998 examining male pattern hair loss in men aged 18 – 49 found that 42% experienced moderate to extensive hair loss, and this got worse with age .

How Do You Know If You Have Too Much Dht

Androgenetic Alopecia can be identified by an experienced doctor based on the visual inspection of the scalp. Also, your family history of similar hair loss suggests the possibility of high DHT levels causing hair loss as it can be hereditary.

To analyze the DHT production in your body, you can take a clinical blood test or saliva panel test. In men , the normal DHT values range from 112 to 955 pg/ml while in women , it is less than or equal to 300pg/mL.

Ayurvedic Treatments With Dht Controlling Herbs

A. Nasya

Nasya kriya, i.e. inhaling medicated oils into your respiratory tract, is one of the prominent Ayurvedic methods to treat DHT Hair loss. It is the fastest way for oils to enter into your nerve receptors.

“Through your olfactory system, the oils reach your blood circulatory system, from where the oil molecules can bind to your scalp receptors and change its chemical composition. Thus, it can prevent your scalp receptors from getting blocked with DHT molecules,” says Dr. Zeel.

Performing Nasya regularly with anu taila or sesame oil, which are efficient DHT blockers, promotes healthy hair growth while keeping your Pitta in balance.

Vedix Tip: Preferably, Nasya karma has to be performed on an empty stomach after bowel evacuation in the morning. And, you should not eat anything or take a bath at least for 30 minutes after doing Nasya.

B. Oil Massage

Use Ayurvedic oils that contain DHT controlling herbal ingredients to massage your scalp and hair regularly. Warm oils applied to your scalp carry the DHT blocking herbs into the deeper tissues of your scalp. On the other side, massaging enhances the blood circulation to your scalp follicles. Thus, your hair follicles are nourished with essential nutrients while DHT binding is prevented.

C. Regular Hair Cleansing

Use hair cleansers containing DHT controlling herbs to wash your hair regularly. Ayurvedic hair cleansers unclog your follicles without stripping off the natural oils of your scalp.

D. Hair Packs

Why Dht Affects People Differently

Your proclivity to hair loss is genetic, meaning that its passed down in your family.

For example, if youre male and your father experiences male pattern balding, its likely that youll show a similar balding pattern as you age. If youre already inclined to male pattern baldness, the follicle-shrinking effect of DHT tends to be more pronounced.

The size and shape of your head may also contribute to how quickly DHT shrinks your follicles.

Stress Depression And Anxiety Can Also Contribute To Hair Loss

Depression and hair loss are linked, and depression can affect the quality of your hair hair can become dry and break very easily. Prescription anti-depressants such as Prozac can also have side effects that cause hair loss.

Woman with long hair standing by the window so the reflection is visible in the glass. Sadness and anxiety on her face.

Anxiety and stress are technically two separate conditions. However, they do overlap. The key issue between anxiety and hair loss is stress, especially persistent stress, which can affect the growth of your hair.

Emotional stress can significantly slow, or even stunt your hairs normal growth cycle. Once the hair has stopped its growth cycle, it lies dormant and eventually sheds after around two months.

Stress is a huge contributor to a variety of different mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, and insomnia. In most cases, it is stress that will cause you to lose hair. The most common type of hair loss is telogen effluvium, in which stress can be a potential cause.

If the cause is stress and it is addressed, your hair can resume its normal growth phase, but it usually takes three to six months for regrowth or longer.

Ask An Expert: Is It Actually Possible To Regrow Hair

HAIR RESTORATION LABORATORIES PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH DHT ...

Every guy is at risk of losing his hair, some more quickly than others. It sucks. The follicle itself shrivels up and is rendered incapable of regrowing anything. This type of hair loss is called androgenetic alopecia, often referred to as male pattern baldness. This plays out in two ways: the thinning of each hair and the overall loss of density. But, in certain cases of alopecia, these losses are not truly permanent. At least, not right away. Sometimes, it can be slowed down or delayed.

So there’s hope! If youve been losing hair or if you think youre at risk of hair loss of thinning, then read on for some possible fixes. The insight and advice comes from Dr. Francesco Fusco, MD of Wexler Dermatology in NYC. His main point? You’ve got to be proactive.

Fusco says that theres something called miniaturization happening at the follicular level when a hair falls out. Miniaturization refers to the slow shrinking of the hair follicle and the diminution of the hair within, until eventually the follicle no longer exists, she says. The remaining tiny hair falls out and nothing grows back. She says that this is often genetic and caused by a hormone called dihydrotestosterone , which is a byproduct of testosterone. DHT clings to the follicle and then slowly shrinks it. This most commonly happens at the temples, the crown, and the front of the head.

There are some common solutions and some uncommon ones:
