My Hair Care Routine For Frizzy Dry Processed Aging Hair
As Ive gotten older my hair has changed texture. Some of the change is due to the aging process by which hair naturally gets thinner, coarser, and grayer, and some of it is from coloring and heat styling to hide the fact that its thinner, coarser and grayer! As my hair changes, I struggle to find products and tools to combat the dryness and frizz and make my hair look like hair. Ive had some success lately, so I thought Id share the things that are working for me now. So, heres my hair care routine for my frizzy, dry, over processed, aging hair:
I wear my hair blonde with long layers and side bangs. At 51, some would say Im too old for this style, but I love it for now although I know there will come a time when itll become just too much time and expense to maintain. My focus with this hair style is keeping it looking healthy, keeping the color fresh, and fighting frizz.
At the Salon:
I only get a big cut twice a year. The rest of the time I just have her do a tiny trim to keep the layers in shape. I like my bangs to be between my eyebrow and jaw, but I prefer them on the long side especially in the summer when I grow them long enough to go into my summer pony tail.

Say Bye To Split Ends
Split ends are wrong for every type of hair be it straight, wavy, or permed. They appear due to a bad hair care routine. Also, they are the reason why you start losing all the moisture of your hair. Moreover, split ends are the result of harsh weather or even blow dryers and strong chemicals. While treating your frizzy perms, the first thing you will need to do is to cut split ends. It wont only end frizz, but also it will help retain moisture. Also, it helps your hair grow further. Anyway, you dont have to cut a considerable length of your hair. Cutting just a few centimeters would do great.
An Amika Straightening Brush Designed With Impressive Ired Technology So Heat Can More Rapidly Penetrate Your Hair In English This Thing Reduces Straightening Time By Up To Half Ion Projectors And A Ceramic Base Promise Smoothness And Shine Plus It Doesn’t Give That Pin
Promising review: “The Amika brush leaves my hair smooth and silky, but it still had some volume, which I like compared to the pin-straight results I get from my straightening iron. Also, the Amika felt much more gentle on my hair than my straightening iron, which can sometimes feel like it’s burning my hair. All in all, I recommend it for people who want to straighten their hair while still maintaining volume, are searching for a new daily straightening appliance that holds up to its promises, and people who don’t mind the price tag.” Hannah Loewentheil, BuzzFeed writer

Redefine Your Showering Habits
To avoid frizzy perms, you must make some changes to your shower routine. First, you need to include a conditioner in your shower routine. Second, you must apply the conditioner across the length.
Third, your shampoo must be effective enough to lock the curls. You can choose from shampoos having oils like coconut oil, argan oil, shea butter, etc. Also, avoid using shampoos that have strong chemicals like alcohol or even sulfates.
Fourth, try not to comb or brush wet hair. Fifth, avoid rubbing your hair against a towel to make your hair dry. Sixth, avoid washing your hair with hot water. It can damage your hair shape. Further, it removes all moisture from your hair, leaving hair dry. Due to that, you can get fizzy hair. Last, do not use a dryer too closely to dry your hair.
Using a blow dryer too close to your hair can denature hair protein. As a result, you get frizzy perms.

How To Get Rid Of Frizzy Hair: 4 Tips To Minimize Frizz
The causes of frizz are numerous, from over-styling with heated tools and dryness, to high humidity and your genetics. But the good news is that you can learn how to minimize frizzy hair if you want to with the right routine. Below weâre delivering expert advice on how you can control frizz by using the best products.
Add Moisture To Your Hair
“The only way to fix frizz is to reapply moisture to the hair shaft with a water-based styling product, then restyle,” Kinky-Curly founder Shelley Davis tells Bustle. She recommends Kinky-Curly’s Spiral Spritz and says to spray just the frizzy areas of the hair with a light coating before smoothing and reshaping the curl with your fingers. For those with curly hair, she says products such as pomades won’t help restore moisture because they coat the hair, rather than being absorbed by it, although they do help prevent frizz before it occurs. She recommends sealing the hair with one as a final styling step.

Hairspray Is Your Friend
An old hairstylist trick is to lightly mist your brush or comb with some hairspray to tame frizzies and flyaways. Influencer Michaela Podolsky says she deals with frizz on a daily basis, and spraying her comb with LOréal Elnett Satin Strong Hairspray is the only thing that works for her. After spraying, I lightly brush through the top of my hair to set it in place, says Podolsky. On top of that, I wish this hairspray came in a perfumeI love the scent! And it holds my frizz down for the entire day.
Why Is My Hair Getting Frizzy As I Get Older
The texture of our hair does naturally change as we age. Of course, significant textural changes will depend on things that have happened in life, such as whether youve had children, suffered from conditions like alopecia or gone through treatments like chemotherapy. But generally speaking, hair will slowly become thinner, drier, grey in colour and sometimes coarser and more brittle.
Frizzy hair is an ambiguous term as everyone has different hair types and textures, but generally means that hair is less smooth in texture, which is often caused by lack of hydration. When hair grows, its unable to produce its own oils and relies on the oils our scalp produces to provide nourishment, making it look and feel glossy. As we age these oils decrease, resulting in drier, frizzier hair.
Along with a change in oil production, when our hair turns grey the reduction in melanocytes also causes hair to become dry. This drop in pigment changes the structure of the hair follicle, leaving it feeling brittle and frizzy. According to certified trichologist William Gaunitz, Studies claim that by the age of 60 all individuals are prone to have at least some degree of greying hair, regardless of their ethnicity and genetics. Going grey is an unavoidable fact of life but, you can make a difference with a few products.

Set Hair With Velcro Rollers To Add Extra Lift
Colette suggests that after blow-drying, you section off pieces of hair at the crown, roll them up into Velcro curlers, and use the cool setting on your dryer to set the style. Finish with a texturizing spray like Oribe Texturizing spray, $22, or Ouais Wave spray, $26, spraying at the root in sections. That way, when the style starts to fall throughout the day all you need to do is flip your head over, massage your scalp, and fluff your hair up, Colette adds.

Tip #: Smooth Flyaways With Dryer Sheets
Heres an unexpected tip that involves a laundry staplespecifically, dryer sheets. Just as dryer sheets help reduce static electricity in your laundry, they can do the same for your hair. As we noted above, flyaways can be caused by static so try zapping them down with a few swipes of a clean dryer sheet. Grab a sheet and gently rub it along your strands until you get the results you want. Opt for an unscented version if you prefer not to smell like a freshly washed load.
What Is Frizzy Hair
Simply speaking, frizzy hair is the messy tangle of hair that you can find at the top of your head. But why do you have this messy frizz in your hair! Your hair is composed of three layers apart from millions of cells. Cuticle is the outer layer of your hair and its condition decides whether you will have frizzy hair or not. The cuticle is like a shingled roof and when the shingles lie flat your hair remains straight and smooth. Whenever these shingles lift up, they form frizz on the hair surface.

If You Have Fine Wavy Hair
Fine, wavy hair usually doesnt have enough thickness in the fiber to really hold its natural waves, so shorter lengths and more layers are better, Livermore says. Shag haircuts are making a comeback this year, and Atkin recommends one with loads of layers to bring out the natural waves. She says its an easy-to-style cut whether youre rocking your natural texture or adding some bends using a flat iron or curling iron.
Straighten Smarter Not Harder
Taming frizz on your natural texture is one thing, but keeping straightened hair sleek is a whole other can of worms. Luckily, Glamour commerce editor Shanna Shipin has figured out a trick that makes straightening her curls smooth sailing. While its super tempting to grab a brush and detangle my hair before straightening, I never do it, she says. Taking a brush through my hair separates the strands and makes my hair super frizzy when I go over it with a flatiron. Instead, I use a detangling brush in the showerand if it gets a little knotty while straightening, I finger-comb it. It also helps to use a heat protectant spray.
