Is Olaplex Good For Hair Loss

Does Olaplex Really Cause Hair Loss And Breakage Short Answer: No

Olaplex Saved My Balding Head *OLAPLEX FOR HAIRLOSS* | Olaplex Review | Shampoo and Conditioner
  • There isnt any indication from the manufacturer that Olaplex causes hair loss. After all, its used in the most prestigious salons worldwide and in the most mistreated hair.
  • However, you have to identify if Olaplex is the cause of the hair loss or if its due to other factors such as hormonal changes, a stage of greater stress, damaged hair before using Olaplex, or even incorrect use of the product.

Hair treatments work like diets.

Some people lose 5 kg in a week with the moon diet. Others follow the same diet and only lose a few grams. Why the difference?

Because not all bodies are the same. An infinite number of factors influence them, such as genetic predisposition, general health, and physical exercise. Also, unbelievably, the weather in which you live. The same thing happens with Olaplex.

From my experience, I can say that Olaplex shouldnt cause hair loss because its designed exclusively to repair and moisturize hair that undergoes chemical processes such as bleaching, coloring, or permanent straightening.

Thats why the most important thing to consider is the level of damage your hair had before applying Olaplex.

If your hair was damaged, brittle, or burned, Olaplex may not be enough to repair it. Then, you may notice increased hair loss.

Olaplex No 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

This shampoo has the longest ingredients list Ive ever seen in a shampoo, and honestly I dont know why any product needs this many ingredients.

Its a sulfate-free shampoo, with bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate as the 10th ingredient mathematically this means it cant be higher than 10%, but practically speaking, and considering the percentages in Olaplex 2 and 3, its probably far below that. The amount of active ingredient seems a bit too low to be relying on this for repairing damaged hair, but thats probably why they brand it maintenance. It does look like a pretty nice shampoo though.

Is Olaplex Good For Color Treated Hair

Is olaplex good for color treated hair? OLAPLEX strengthens and prepares the hair for future services. OLAPLEX can be mixed into all Colors and Lighteners to lessen the damage caused by these services. OLAPLEX is also used to maintain and repair Color Treated hair for healthy, beautiful looking hair.

Which Olaplex is best for colored hair? First, Olaplex number 1 Bond Multiplier is added into the bleach or hair color so it will be taken directly into the core of the hair strands to the disulphide bonds. Next, Olaplex number 2 Bond Perfector will be applied to the hair strands when the bleach or hair color is washed off and left on for 20 mins.

Does Olaplex make hair color fade? This wont make your color fade and it will help with breakage, as long as its used correctly. Its not meant to replace your conditioner. Wet your hair, put it on, leave it ten minutes, THEN shampoo and condition .

Can I use Olaplex 3 after coloring my hair? Depending on the hair and how damaged it is normally treat with Olaplex before your colour however you can use it after if you and to give it some extra strength.

How Can You Try It

The first two steps of the Olaplex system are for professional use exclusively. To find salons that use the Olaplex system, check out its website.

However, if you’re curious about trying it on your own before heading in for the complete treatment, Roberston says it’s entirely okay to skip right to step 3. “Think of Olaplex No.3 as the ultimate mini treatment,” she says. “Many people ask if No.3 will repair hair if you haven’t used the first two, and the answer is yes! It doesn’t replace the in-salon system, but it’s a great way to test the waters if you’re curious.”

As for how often you should be using Olaplex? That depends on the scope and severity of your hair’s damage. Roberston recommends including a treatment with each salon visit followed with No.3 every one or two weeks. However, “for moderate to severely damaged hair I would recommend one to two Olaplex Stand Alone Treatments a month, followed by using of No.3 once a week,” she says.

Olaplex Overuse A Problem Heres How To Recover

Olaplex overuse is a major problem for some and can be a reason for Olaplex breaking hair off when it doesnt have to. Proper use is the key.

So look:

Dont use Olaplex every time you wash your hair.

Product build up is real and your hair isnt going to cleanse itself.

Using an Olaplex treatment every time you shampoo is a waste of product and will leave your hair feeling lanky so dont overuse it.

If youve already suffered from Olaplex overuse

do this to recover before deciding to leave a bad Olaplex review:

Use a clarifying or detox shampoo, and a super moisturizing hair mask. Something that DOES NOT contain protein, silk, or keratin. You’ve probably over proteinized your hair with too much Olaplex, making it brittle and prone to breakage.

You probably just need to add more moisture to rebalance it. Look for something with an acidic pH that will close your cuticle, less than 4-5, joico lustre lock is a popular choice for this.

Just leave it in for 10 mins and rinse thoroughly. After that, use an oil when damp. A few good oil options are Sebastian dark oil, L’Oréal Mythic oil and Goldwell oil elixir.

Lastly, avoid hot tools since your hair is already fragile and you dont want to encourage Olaplex breaking hair off.

Next, lets talk about how hair treatment confusion can bring about bad Olaplex reviews, even when bad Olaplex reviews may not be warranted

Olaplex No 1 Bond Multiplier

Olaplex No. 1 has the highest concentration of the active ingredient. Its literally just water, bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate and preservatives.

Ive seen sources that say that it has 80% or 100% of the active ingredient, but if the ingredients list follows the usual rules, it cant contain more than 50% . Its also very liquidy, which would not be the texture Id expect for this chemical, although its really just a guess.

There are lots of ways that Olaplex recommend using No. 1: mixed in with bleach to reduce damage, mixed in with gloss, toner or colour, or diluted and used as the first step in a standalone treatment. Theres a handy mixing chart on their site.

Ingredients: Water , Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate.

  • How Damaged Was Your Hair Before Applying The Olaplex

There are several chemical processes that can damage your hair, breaking the keratin bonds:

    • Bleaching
    • The heat produced by iron or curling machines
    • Excessive sun exposure

If any of these factors influenced your hair damage, the Olaplex will be able to repair it. However, you also have to be realistic.

Thats why, by the time you apply the Olaplex, the damage may be so deep that the repair action is not enough and you start to experience breakage hair loss.

Now, if your hair wasnt so damaged and youre experiencing hair loss, you may be going through another type of process.

Can The N0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Be Used On Normal Hair Does Hair Need To Be Color

Yes, the N.°0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment can be used on normal hair as well. You do not need to have damaged or compromised hair to benefit from this hair treatment. However, if you use the hair treatment on damaged hair, you will see better results. The more often you use the hair treatment, the healthier your hair will look and feel.

    How Does It Work

    Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector

Different from all other hair repair systems, Olaplex struck gold with its formula. The star ingredient is Bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate . It’s a patented ingredient that actively restores broken bonds. If you’re like me, you immediately think of the hundreds of split ends happening on your head, but Robertson explains that it addresses so much more. “Olaplex is repairing each hair strand as a whole ,” she says. “It’s finding bonds that have been broken down by any means and reconnecting them both ionically and covalently. This means that broken or weak bonds, located anywhere on the hair shaft, are targeted.”

Much of the buzz surrounding Olaplex stems from its incredible capability to fend off damage from hair color. Celebrity colorist Matt Rez considers it a must for hair lightening. “Blondes and those who want the lightest strands must be on their Olaplex game,” he says. “I use Olaplex in the salon all the time. We mix part 1 into our color formulas, and we do part 2 post-color to super secure and keep my clients’ hair strong through different processes.”

Olaplex is especially useful for blondes, as going lighter than your natural color involves breaking your hair’s bonds. “When lifting out pigment, we are using a bleach or ammoniated color to highlight hair,” Rez explains. “That causes swelling to the hair cuticle for color or lightener to do its job,” Rez says. This is where Olaplex comes in, and “secures a healthy lightening.”

Don’t Miss: How To Prevent Hair Loss

    Can Hair Grow Mold

Mildew often occurs in hair and scalp when wet hair is left unable to dry for extended periods of time. The moisture that gets trapped in the hair can breed mildew, and hairstyles more prone to this would be buns, ponytails, updos, or even locs, although people who sweat heavily in their hair may also suffer from this.

Wash Your Hair Every 72 Hours

Its a must to stimulate hair growth. If you wash your hair every day, the hair fiber will weaken and break.

Also, the scalp wont produce the sebum that makes the hair follicles healthy to grow hair.

Hair gel can be an ideal styling tool, but you use it daily use threatens the hairs health. It dries out the hairs root, leaving residues that prevent growth.

Im not telling you to quit using gel, but save it for special occasions such as a date with friends, a romantic dinner, or a party.

    How To Use Olaplex

Sure enough, my hair felt softer, stronger, and silkier with just one use of No. 3 , and I was hooked. I really appreciate that it doesn’t leave a greasy or heavy feel on my hair, a normally unavoidable side effect for hair conditioning.

Although everyone has a different routine for using Olaplex , the only thing you have to remember is that each product is given a number that indicates the order in which they should be used if you’re opting for the complete system . Olaplex 1 and 2 are in-salon onlythey’re the add-ons your hairdresser might offer you when you make a color appointment.

The main Olaplex product you see in stores is the No.3 Hair Perfector , which contains the smallest amount of the active ingredient bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate . The formula is meant to be used as a pre-poo treatmentI apply it on my hair before shampooing, and leave it in for 10 minute before rinsing out in the shower. Optionally, you can use No. 0 , which is a bond-building spray treatment, as a primer before applying No.3.

I like to keep my routine pretty simpleafter pre-pooing, I use the shampoo and conditioner, followed by a pinch of bonding oil on damp ends. With regular use, I’m relieved to say my hair feels like my old hair again.

Why Olaplex Is Different From Other Protein Treatments

HAIR DAMAGE SUFFERER REVIEWS OLAPLEX SHAMPOO NO.4 AND CONDITIONER NO.5! Does It Work To Repair Hair?

Olaplexs signature and patented ingredient, bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, is more than just a protein source.

This ingredient is chemically similar to the disulfide bonds in our hair and is able to actually penetrate into our hair and support our native proteins.

Studies have indicated that this ingredient, under a microscope, morphologically improved the structure of the hair fibre.

For us naturals, improving the structure of hair fibre will immediately yield an increase in moisture retention, as water loss occurs when there are gaps and breaks in our cuticle layer and damage to our cortex.

Curl elasticity is the second benefit, where the hair has increased in strength and malleability and can withstand manipulation.

The best part about this ingredient is that it does not create a film around the hair, unlike other protein treatments.

Not only that, your hair will take whatever it needs from the formula, and the rest will be washed away, ensuring no product buildup. Score!

This protein treatment is great for low porosity naturals but high porosity hair will benefit from using the Olaplex ecosystem, too.
