Can Cleansing Conditioner Really Cause Hair Loss
Wen by Chaz Dean products make the company around $100 million a year.
Last year, a group of 200 women in 40 states filed a class action lawsuit alleging the cleansing conditioner from Wen by Chaz Dean caused scary side effects, from scalp irritation to hair loss.
On Oct. 31, a federal judge in Los Angeles gave preliminary approval to a $26.3 million settlement for the suit against celebrity stylist Chaz Dean and Wen distributor Guthy-Renker. If approved by a United States district judge, customers who had adverse reactions could receive up to $20,000.
Wen is a leader in the no-shampoo movement. Many women believe that conditioner washing or “co-washing”using only cleansing conditioner makes their hair feel healthier, softer, and easier to manage.
But the women represented in the lawsuit say they’ve had the opposite experience: They claim Wen’s cleansing condition caused “severe and possibly permanent damage to hair, including significant hair loss to the point of visible bald spots, hair breakage, scalp irritation, and rash.”
“From what we understand about the product and how it causes hair loss is it contains virtually no cleanser,” attorney Amy Davis told CBS. “Its like using lotion to wash your hair. So instead of removing the product when you rinse it off, it just becomes impacted in your hair follicle.”

Does seborrheic dermatitis cause hair loss?
Technically, seborrheic dermatitis in itself doesnt cause hair loss. This condition can however, trigger inflammation on scalp and lead to dandruff.
The itching associated with these conditions make you scratch your head often. And the friction and damage resulting from this scratching can lead to hair loss.
Also, seborrheic dermatitis can trigger sebum production on the scalp making it extremely oily. This can cause build-up blocking hair follicles from receiving nutrition.
It also leads to Malassezia, a type of yeast infection that can prevent hair from growing.

How To Choose The Right Shampoo For Thinning Hair
Check out the following features before adding the shampoo to your cart:
Hair Type: Always inspect if the shampoo is suitable for your hair and scalp, or else you will end up worsening the hair loss even more. Thinning hair shampoos are formulated according to hair types such as dry, oily, color-treated, damaged, etc.
Gentle & Nourishing Cleansing: If you have thin or scanty hair, then gentle cleansing is ideal for you. Given that your hair is already weak and prone to breakage, a mild and nourishing cleanser will not cleanse without harming the follicles but also nourish to replace the lost moisture and sebum.
Hair Loss Control: A volumizing shampoo will not necessarily control hair loss. So, if hair loss is also a concern, then check if the shampoo is formulated to reduce shedding and prevent breakage.
Stimulates Hair Growth: If you want to witness satisfying results, you must check if the shampoo can stimulate hair growth as well to enjoy thicker and denser volume with every use.
Chemical Free Formula: Lastly, the shampoo should be 100% chemical-free! Harsh chemicals like sulfates, paraben, SLS and more, can strip your hair of natural oils, moisture and worsen thinning. So, look out for these chemicals before choosing the shampoo.

Why Is Pantene The Worst Shampoo
After an amount of research I havent done since college, several Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioners contain unhealthy ingredients such as sulfates and long-ass words that end in -cone. Silicones are what make you feel easy, breezy, beautiful with shiny hair, BUT over time they act as plastic coats that cause
You Wont Swish Your Hair With Pantene
Next time you venture out to pick up some shampoo, avoid putting the Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality Shampoo in your cart because it is underwhelming. FYI, there is absolutely nothing natural about the shampoo, unlike its name claims. If you take a glance at its ingredients, you’ll notice it is filled with chemicals that are harsh and can cause skin irritation. Here’s a tip to remember: if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it’s bad for you!

Aveda Leaves You Frizzed Up
This is why we say cost does not always necessarily mean quality. The Aveda Clove Shampoo that retails for $30 is quite the disappointing shampoo considering its hefty price tag.
If you want to buy the shampoo because it smells great, go ahead, but do not expect it to work miracles on your hair. This shampoo is supposed to act as a colouring agent, but instead, hair gets stripped of colour. Oh, it will also make you look like you just experienced a humid day in Florida.
Reviewers on Total Beauty seem to agree: hair is frizzy and stripped. Next!

Burts Bees Raspberry Is A Complete Mess
Burt’s Bees may feel like heaven on our lips, but don’t let a Burt’s Bees shampoo touch your precious hair.
The Burt’s Bees More Moisture Raspberry & Brazil Nut Shampoo is loathed by many, so let us explain why. Firstly, whether or not you have a lot of moisture in your hair, this shampoo does not deliver any moisture at all, as opposed to its name it leaves the hair dry instead. Secondly, after reading about the other damage it does, you’ll certainly say, “Thank U, Next.” One comment on Total Beauty was enough to put us all off:
“Within two days of purchasing it I threw it out. My hair felt greasy, matted and all around dirty.”
That’s not exactly what we’re looking for.

Could Your Shampoo Cause Hair Loss
There are many reasons why people may experience hair loss, so in an attempt to combat the issue, many people use thickening shampoos.
But the problem is, these products are more likely doing more harm than good.
Recently on “The Doctors,” Gail Federici, hair care innovator and CEO of Color Wow, discussed how thickening shampoos and conditioners can actually provoke the thinning of hair, rather than do what they promise.
“More and more ingredients have been added to shampoos that have nothing to do with cleansing,” Federici says. “So if you have thinning hair, you’re massaging these ingredients into your scalp and they can stay behind and leave build up. They don’t easily rinse off.”
Cleansing is what a shampoo should do, so if you have thinning hair, Federici recommends not using a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, as it’s loaded with ingredients that are engineered to stay behind in the hair. This does not make for a healthy scalp as it can obstruct hair growth.
And an important thing to remember when conditioning the hair is to only apply the product halfway down your hair and never to the scalp.
If you want to use products to regain some sort of thickness, Federici suggests using thickening styling products, used on the hair after washing.

As it stands, the cases against OGX and TRESemme makers are class-action lawsuits and have been filed in several states. Drug Store Shampoos That Are Secretly Ruining Your Hair
Hair can truly make or break you. Youre either a candidate for LOréals next hair commercial, or you just look ratchet. This is why my professors from college should be glad I took as many
bad hair mental health days as I did to skip class once a week in a while. Anytime my hair isnt on point, Im as upset as Kim was when she lost her diamond earring in Bora Bora.
Even though our sacred blowouts and keratin treatments are v important to us, theyre expensive AF. Since Im neither rich nor famous, I have to pay for like, rent and shitty wifi so unfortunately, I cant make an appointment every time I get split ends. Thats why I pay more than Im willing to admit on my shampoo and conditioner. But you shouldnt spend hundreds at the salon only to destroy your hair with the shampoo and conditioner you use at home . Some brands we love are actually way harsh and ruin your hair rather than help it, so here are sets you should toss in the trash and sets to use instead.

How I Use Biolage Products
My natural hair color is a rather uninspiring dark brown and I have my hair colored at the salon a beautiful golden blonde. These products prevents brassy hair and really stretches out the time before it begins to fade and needs a re-coloring.
I shampoo and condition usually every third or fourth day. Both lather quite easily and create lots of bubble, making hair wash easy. After rinsing with warm, but not hot, water, my hair feels supple, clean, and has no waxy residues.
When you run your fingers through you hair after just shampooing, it will feel tangled, therefore it is crucial to use the conditioner after the shampoo wash. You hair will no longer feel tangled anymore and it will be easy to brush through. Your hair will smell great, with an orchid floral scent that lasts a long time after your shower.
These two products are obviously meant to complement each other. My hair tends to tangle with many other well-known shampoos and conditioners, and I appreciate that with the Biolage Colorlast duo it does not do that.
For me, the soft, shiny finish of the shampoo and conditioner combo had me happy right out the gate. When I went 4 weeks after my salon visit, and my blonde hair still looked salon-perfect , I was hooked! I do not use these products when my hair is in its natural state. There are other shampoos and conditioners that I prefer but for color-treated hair, I found Biolages products to be what suited me the best.
