The hair loss happens because methotrexate is doing what its supposed to do stop cells from growing. This includes cells causing inflammation and, unfortunately, hair follicles.
Folic acid is commonly prescribed with methotrexate to alleviate some of its side effects. Taking this synthetic form of folate, a B-complex vitamin, can help keep your hair healthy, but it has not been found to promote hair growth.
Leflunomide : Another widely used DMARD for RA with the potential for hair loss is leflunomide. It often is prescribed in combination with methotrexate, and causes hair loss similar to the way methotrexate does in about 10 percent of users.

Yes, you can still take other medications on the same day as your Rituxan infusion. In fact, youll usually be given drugs to help prevent you from having an infusion reaction on the day of your Rituxan dose.
Be sure to keep taking your other medications as directed by your doctor, even if its on a day that youre having an infusion. Always talk with your doctor before you stop or start taking medication.

When Can I Perm Straighten Or Dye My Hair
Ask your medical team how long you should wait after finishing treatment before you colour, chemically straighten or perm your hair. Traces of chemotherapy in your hair strands could react with the chemicals used in the styling processes.
Natural, temporary dyes might be better than permanent chemical products. If youd like to dye your hair, you could ask your clinical nurse specialist if a vegetable-based hair dye that you wash out is suitable for you. These are milder and less damaging to your hair and scalp than chemical ones.
Whichever treatment type youve had, your new hair might be fragile so you should wait for at least six months after your hair has started to grow back before you have woven-in or glued-in hair extensions.

Fertility Pregnancy And Breastfeeding
There is limited research into how rituximab effects an unborn baby. Its generally recommended that rituximab should be stopped six months before pregnancy. However, if you have recently had rituximab and find yourself pregnant it is not thought to be harmful to your baby.
Usually you will not be treated with rituximab during the last six months of your pregnancy. However, some women may have to take rituximab throughout their pregnancy if their condition remains active and poses a risk to them or their baby. There is no evidence to suggest this would harm their unborn child.
It is considered safe to take rituximab while you are breastfeeding. You should talk to your doctor about any concerns you may have.
It is considered safe for men to continue taking rituximab while trying to father a baby.
How Long Does Rituxan Stay In Your System
After taking Rituxan, the medication can stay in your body for months. In one study of people with NHL, Rituxan remained in their blood for 3 to 6 months after their last dose. So the drug may actually keep working for months after your last dose.
However, the length of time a medication stays in the body is different for each person. If you have questions about how long Rituxan will last for you or when you need another dose, talk with your doctor or pharmacist.
