Cymbalta And Blood Pressure

According to Duloxetine warnings, particular caution is advised to patients with hypertension disorder since Cymbalta and high blood pressure dont go well together. Duloxetine might raise blood pressure and cause dizziness, especially in combination with other drugs. What Causes Hair Loss

First, your doctor or dermatologist will try to determine the underlying cause of your hair loss. The most common cause of hair loss is hereditary male- or female-pattern baldness.

If you have a family history of baldness, you may have this type of hair loss. Certain sex hormones can trigger hereditary hair loss. It may begin as early as puberty.

In some cases, hair loss may occur with a simple halt in the cycle of hair growth. Major illnesses, surgeries, or traumatic events can trigger hair loss. However, your hair will usually start growing back without treatment.

Hormonal changes can cause temporary hair loss. Examples include:

  • heart problems

A physical or emotional shock may trigger noticeable hair loss. Examples of this type of shock include:

  • a death in the family
  • extreme weight loss
  • a high fever

People with trichotillomania have a need to pull out their hair, usually from their head, eyebrows, or eyelashes.

Traction hair loss can be due to hairstyles that put pressure on the follicles by pulling the hair back very tightly.

A diet lacking in protein, iron, and other nutrients can also lead to thinning hair.

Androgenic Pattern Hair Loss

Androgenic hair loss can affect approximately 20 percent of all women. There may be a family history of this and it can start at any age, although usually after the age of 20. The cause is thought to be a high sensitivity of the hair follicles to the male hormone, testosterone. The hair thins at the top, the front and at the sides . If testosterone levels are high, you can use medications that block male hormones and these are used in men and women and need a doctor’s prescription. In women, medications that block testosterone are cyproterone acetate and spironolactone and they can work well to reduce male pattern balding. They also reduce excess facial and body hair and acne.

If hormonal imbalances are suspected, then a blood test to check your hormone levels with your doctor will be necessary. Check testosterone levels, vitamin B 12, CRP, serum iron studies, full blood count and thyroid function.

Try not to pull, twist, or rub your hair. Make sure youre eating a balanced diet that includes adequate amounts of iron and protein.

Certain beauty regimens can worsen or cause hair loss.

If youre currently losing hair, use a gentle baby shampoo to wash your hair. Unless you have extremely oily hair, consider washing your hair only every other day. Always pat the hair dry and avoid rubbing your hair.

Styling products and tools are also common culprits in hair loss. Examples of products or tools that can affect hair loss include:

I didnt notice my hair loss until 11 months after surgery. My hair was extremely thick. If it went passed my upper back, I would get a headache from the weight. I realized that I could see my scalp about 1 inch in from my hairline above eyes. Then the belt broke on my vacuum and I had to use a knife to cut out all the hair wrapped up in it. I’m a redhead plus I live alone…it was all my hair. The amount of hair in my shower drain and bahroom floor is unbelievable. Did I mention I also have Hypothyroidism. When I brought up my hairloss to my doctor and how dry it was, I was told they are a side effect of the disease and also medicine. That didnt make sense to me since I was diagnosed over 4 years ago but did not have these issues until a year ago. So I went home and tried to accept her response.

Hair Loss From Thyroid Problems

Either an underactive thyroid, a medical condition called hypothyroidism, or an overactive thyroid, or hyperthyroidism, can result in hair loss because each condition causes a hormonal imbalance. Hormones help to regulate nearly every function in the body, including hair growth. Getting the right treatment to control either of these thyroid conditions will get hormones under control, stop hair loss, and allow your hair to starting grow back.

Can Liver Disease Cause Hair Loss

Liver Disease Hair Falling Out

Hair loss is not a common symptom of liver disease. But because the liver processes androgen hormones and fat a poor functioning liver may also affect your hair follicles. What is interesting is hair loss in people with liver cirrhosis is fairly common.

Cirrhosis generally develops over months or even years by replacing the livers healthy tissue with hard scar tissue. This left untreated can cause liver failure. If cirrhosis is the cause of hair loss you would usually have other symptoms such as:

  • Swelling in your legs, ankles or stomach
  • Jaundice
  • Itchy skin
  • Tenderness and swelling in the liver area
  • Tiredness and a feeling of weakness in the body

Its more difficult to reverse liver damage once you have cirrhosis but it is also as difficult to diagnose acute liver damage as there are, in most cases, no symptoms.
