Hair Loss: Dermatologist Shares What Causes it & the Best Treatments (Minoxidil & More!)

One of the biggest cons of Amberen is that it’s still not approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Currently, no treatments approved by the FDA can stop or alleviate hot flashes. Certain medications prescribed by your health care provider may help minimize the intensity and frequency of hot flashes.

If you’re looking for other menopause relief options, Amberen should not be your first choice as it isn’t FDA-approved specifically to alleviate the symptoms of menopause.

Ftc Charges Marketers With Misleading Claims That Their Supplement Causes Weight Loss Fat Loss And Increased Metabolism In Women Over Forty

The Federal Trade Commission has filed a federal court complaint seeking to prohibit Lunada Biomedical, Inc. and its principals from advertising that their dietary supplement Amberen causes substantial weight loss for women over 40, and that the weight loss is clinically proven. Between 2010 and 2013, Lunada sold almost $65 million worth of Amberen nationwide.

Lunada marketed Amberen to women over 40 as clinically proven to cause weight loss, said Jessica Rich, Director of the FTCs Bureau of Consumer Protection. But their own studies didnt support those claims. The best way to lose weight is still diet and exercise.

According to the FTCs complaint, the defendants have marketed Amberen nationwide using radio and TV commercials, websites, email, and other promotional materials. In their ads, the defendants touted Amberen capsules, through direct product claims and consumer endorsements, as able to cause significant weight loss and loss of belly fat, and to increase the metabolism of perimenopausal or menopausal women over 40.

According to the FTCs complaint, however, a clinical trial conducted in 2001 by the Russian scientists who developed the Amberen formula, used a double dose of Amberen and did not specifically measure weight loss a subsequent clinical study failed to show a statistically significant difference in weight loss between the test and control groups.

Prevents Styling And Coloring Damage

The medium-chain fatty acids in argan oil have a protective effect that can help prevent damage from washing and styling.

Research shows that other oils that are rich in linoleic acid, oleic acid, and palmitic acid add a protective layer to the hair that improves combing force and protects the hair from breakage during heat styling. Oil treatment was also shown to reduce the formation of split ends, which can result in thicker, healthier looking hair.

A 2013 study also found that argan oil reduced damage caused by hair dye when applied to Caucasian hair after color processing.

Does Amberen Perimenopause Work

Amberen Perimenopause has a similar succinate-based formulation to Amberen Menopause, but the dosage is slightly higher. It also contains a vitamin complex. The term perimenopause refers to the transitionary period a woman experiences before menopause is in full effect.

The strange thing about this product is that Amberen claims its clinically-backed, but we cant find the research on it at all. Amberen doesnt link to the research for Perimenopause as they did for their original publication, and a search of the term Amberen Perimenopause in many of the leading medical databases leads to no results.

The fine print of their site for this product references the same two studies we mentioned earlier, which were on regular Amberen but not Amberen Perimenopause.

Because of these concerns, we cannot recommend Amberen Perimenopause, and we hope that its a genuine error on Amberens part rather than intentional deception. We find it very strange that Amberen clearly referenced the studies for one product but not for another, when they claim theyre both clinically-proven to work.

Because the formulation is similar, this product may be effective, but a lack of medical studies means a lack of safety data, and wed recommend that consumers avoid this product.

Amberen Perimenopause also contains artificial food dyes, which are linked to a range of negative health effects in published research.

  • Has done studies on animals.

A Single Patch Is Used To Effectively Tackle Over 30 Pain Factors It Can Also Make Losing Weight ‘child’s Play’

Behind the product are a network of renowned US and Japanese scientists. They’ve used centuries of holistic knowledge to tackle pain, stress and weight loss, without the use of drugs or surgeries.

While difficult to explain exactly how the Nuubu pads work, these 3 factors make Nuubu a pain and weight loss all-rounder:

  • Using methods from ancient Chinese & Japanese medicine: The Nuubu pad takes advantage of the fact that our nervous system is interconnected throughout the body. If a certain point is stimulated, this also affects the rest of the body.
  • The special effect against pain comes from natural detoxification of the whole body via the sole of the foot! When blood circulates through the foot, the patch uses these points to remove any impurities. When harmful elements are pushed away, they land on the lower extremities such as the feet. Gravity also helps bring these heavy metals and impurities to our feet – the place where you put Nuubu to remove them from your body. *
  • The pads help your diet and metabolism too. Your nerve tracts also affect your metabolism and hunger. Even if you only use the patch overnight, the effect works: you lose weight because your metabolism burns fat for you and you feel less hungry!

    Steroids And Hair Loss

Steroids have a complicated relationship with hair growth and hair loss.

Certain corticosteroids may contribute to hair loss. FDA listings for corticosteroids like prednisolone mention thinning of the scalp hair as a possible side effect.

Its not a common side effect of prednisolone, but its one that you should be aware of.

But the reverse may also be true in certain circumstances. The National Library of Medicine suggests that some side effects or prednisolone may include you guessed it increased hair growth.

The other side of this coin is anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids are simply a synthetic version of testosterone, and they can have major anabolic effects on your hair.

Anabolic steroids are often prescribed to treat hormone imbalances and can help to treat diseases that cause muscle loss or weight loss from loss of muscle tissue, but theyre often abused by athletes for performance advantages.

Its a bad idea because these steroids can mess with tons of processes everything from brain and sexual function to, yes, hair growth.

Anabolic steroids simultaneously cause hair loss in men and hair growth in women, and they have some nasty side effects for people who dont need them for medical reasons.

You should take a moment to read about the many side effects according to the National Institutes for Health.

Protecting Your Hair From Steroid Hair Loss

As we mentioned, research has shown that some corticosteroids are actually an effective treatment for certain kinds of hair loss.

But if youre experiencing hair loss and you believe it might be drug-induced hair loss, the first step you should take is contacting your healthcare provider.

They need to know about side effects you may be experiencing, so they can make further recommendations for whether or not to stop treatment, adjust dosages or change medications.

This extends immediately and entirely to anabolic steroids not prescribed by a healthcare professional.

In addition to being illegal and dangerous, theyre also often unsafe when acquired through a third party.

A healthcare provider will tell you that, too.

If youre experiencing hair loss for any reason, theyll also suggest treatment options.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, two of the products that are effective in hair regrowth are minoxidil and finasteride.

Minoxidil is a medication capable of stimulating hair growth, and it’s an FDA-approved hair loss treatment.

You should also pay close attention to key vitamins for hair health, including vitamin A, vitamin D and biotin .

You might also benefit from using shampoos with ingredients shown to prevent hair loss.
