How To Treat Stress

STRESS BALDING: how i recovered

Because telogen effluvium has a variety of potential causes, theres no one hair loss treatment that works for everyone.

If your hair loss is caused by a one-off stressful or traumatic event, such as a physical accident, surgery or psychologically stressful event, your hair will typically grow back on its own over the course of several months.

Tips To Naturally Regrow Hair

If years of anxiety, stress and tension has made you go bald, there are natural remedies that can help you regrow your hair.

The following natural ingredients can help regrow hair naturally:

  • Basil: Basil stimulates blood circulation and helps prevent hair loss while promoting hair growth. Warm a few tablespoons of basil leaves in a pan and apply the mixture to your scalp. Cover your head with a shower cap and wrap a hot towel around it. Leave it on for an hour and then wash your hair. Drink a cup of basil tea every day for visible results.
  • Rosemary: Rosemary helps stimulate the scalp for faster hair growth. This herb also gives a boost to hair follicles to promote healthy hair development. Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to a bottle of shampoo and use it regularly for a month to see visible results.
  • Henna: Mix 2 tsp of henna with 1 tsp of rosemary oil, 1 tsp of coconut oil or olive oil/honey/aloe vera gel and 1 tsp of castor oil. Apply the mixture to your hair before shampooing and let these natural ingredients do wonders for your scalp and hair.
  • In the western world, men are obsessed with their hair. In contrast to women, who love to change their hairstyles and colour, men tend to have a less flexible mindset about hair texture, colour and growth. Having a bald head or losing hair is not the desired outcome for a man a fact borne out by the growth of the hair care industry.

Are There Complications/side Effects Of Treatment

Minoxidil may irritate your scalp and cause dryness, scaling, itching and/or redness. See your dermatologist if this happens.

With Minoxidil you might also see hair growing in other places other than your scalp . Wash your face after you apply Minoxidil and make sure you avoid other areas when you apply it.

What Can I Do About Traction Alopecia

To protect your hair from traction alopecia and prevent further damage:

    • Ask your stylist to create looser braids or dreadlocks.
    • If you have braids, remove them after three months.
    • If you wear a weave or hair extensions, remove them after eight weeks.
    • If you have relaxed or dyed hair, make sure these treatments are applied by a professional. If you still notice breakage or hair shedding, avoid chemical treatments completely.
    • Minimize heat styling, including hair dryers, flat irons and curling irons. These wear out the hair and can lead to major hair loss.

3 New Ways to Regrow Thinning Hair

Most of the time, any hair you lose from stress-induced hair loss will come back. After youve treated the root cause of your hair loss, its normal for your hair to grow back over three to six months.

However, because it can take several years for hair to grow to its full length, it can take quite a lot of time for your hair to completely restore itself after stress-induced hair loss.

How Do I Know If My Hair Thinning Is From Stress

Often hair thinning from stress is generalized across the entire scalp rather than being concentrated in one spot like the hair part or hairline. Another indicator is to recall three to six months before your hair shedding started: Did you experience significant emotional or physical stress? Major emotional stressors like divorce, death of a loved one, or job loss, as well as physical stressors like surgery or rapid weight loss or gain, can spike cortisol and derail the hair growth cycle. âWhen we are stressed, our bodies release cortisol. This hormone prematurely signals the hair follicles to stop growing and to fall out,â says Dr. Kogan, who recommends seeing a board-certified dermatologist as the best way to identify root causes of hair thinning. In addition to stress, factors like hormones, metabolism, nutrition, and environment can affect hair growth. A dermatologist can uncover your root causes and rule out any underlying medical issues or diagnosable conditions.

    Treat Hair With Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been used for centuries as a hair treatment and contains lauric acid which binds protein to hair, helps strengthen the roots and decrease hair breakage. If you have oily hair, only leave coconut oil in your hair for a few hours as a mask before washing it out. If you have dry hair, you can leave it in to nourish dry hair strands.

Thinning hair comes with its fair share of feelings. Seeing your thick, luscious ponytail dwindle into a thinner, less-voluminous version of itself is sad enough as it is. But watching your hairline fade slowly and creep back one millimeter at a time is an entirely different kind of torture. Since sparse edges can ruin your hairstyle and take a shot at your confidence, we’re exploring some options to recover a receding hairline.

We tapped multiple experts, including celebrity hairstylist Cervando Maldonado, Dr. Christine Shaver of Bernstein Medical Center for Hair Restoration in New York City, and BosleyMD certified trichologist Gretchen Friese, to get the inside scoop.

“Although every situation is different, and some might have a harder time growing it back, a receding hairline can regrow,” says Maldonado. With hair-growing tips from an expert, consistency, and the willingness to experiment, anything is possible. Ahead, nine tips to try if you want a fuller hairline again.

    The Hairbiotic 1 Capsule Daily

The Hairbiotic is our probiotic that has been designed to help with healthy hair growth.

Probiotics help introduce healthy bacteria back into the gut, and some studies have shown that some specific strains of probiotic have improved hair health considerably.

If youve ever taken antibiotics, eaten foods with preservatives or drunken tap water with fluorides in then the chances are you might have killed some of the beneficial friendly bacteria in your gut that help protect your hair.

Without these friendly bacteria you could lose hair much more easily.

I take 1 capsule of the Hairguard Hairbiotic each day in the morning with water.

The Hairbiotic contains 6 strains of probiotic which can help improve hair health.

These strains of probitoic that weve chosen also help increase Vitamin D synthesis. This is important because Vitamin D deficiency is often a big factor in hair loss.

Women And Hair Loss: Coping Tips

The Main Reasons for Hair Loss In Women

Losing your crowning glory can be particularly difficult for women. But there are ways to cope.

Losing your hair as a woman, especially if you’re young or at a vulnerable time in your life, can badly affect your confidence.

Hair loss, known medically as alopecia, is fairly common. It’s estimated, for instance, that around 40% of women aged 70 years or over experience female-pattern baldness the most common type of hair loss, which is thought to be inherited.

Establish The Root Of The Problem

The first thing to do is to determine the reason for the hairline recession. “There are many causes of hairline recession in women,” says Shaver, “These include androgenetic alopecia , traction alopecia caused by long-term tight hairstyles, inflammatory alopecia , and Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia ), and also alopecia areata . It is important to have a thorough history and examination with a dermatologist in order to determine the cause for hair loss.”

“Hereditary traits and changes in hormones can both naturally cause a receding hairline but can usually be adjusted by your doctor,” explains Maldonado. If you notice that your mother or other members of your family have thin and receding hairlines, a dermatologist might be the answer.

If you’ve recently given birth, the good news is you might just be caught in a waiting game. “Usually six to nine months after having a child, most women lose hair around their hairline,” notes Maldonado. While it is normal, there’s no denying it’s something you’ll want to treat. “A solution to this is to keep taking your prenatal vitamins for a while even after giving birth to help keep the hair stronger and slow the hair fall-out.”

Hair Loss Prevention: How To Stop It Falling Out And Thinning With Stress

Causes, prevention and treatment… we speak to an award-winning hair doctor to get some advice on preserving your precious locks

e are living in stressful times.

For some the mask wearing, hand washing, food hoarding and job uncertainty will cause sleepless nights, for others it might trigger, or exacerbate existing, hair loss.

Its well established that hair loss can be related to emotional stress or anxiety, award-winning dermatologist Dr. Serkan Aygin tells the Standard. When youre stressed or anxious, your body produces whats known as the fight or flight response. This is when your body is making extra hormones to prepare it to deal with whatever it thinks of as being a potential threat. This change in your hormone levels can have effects all around your body. When these extra hormones are made, they can affect the growth patterns of the hair follicles on your scalp.

Theres usually about a three-month delay between the stressful event or time period and the moment your hair starts falling out. So anyone feeling the Covid-19 anxiety, might not actually notice any hair loss until the end of summer.

The good news though, is that hair loss due to stress tends to be temporary. Unless theres another underlying medical reason for your hair loss, it should only last for as long as youre going through that particular period of stress or anxiety, says Dr. Aygin, who has treated over 10,000 patients for hair loss at his eponymous specialist hair clinic.

    Microneedling Once A Week

Microneedling using a dermaroller is the 3rd step to my hair regrowth regimen.

I do a microneedling session every 7 days.

On that day I do microneedling Ill skip using the Scalp Elixir that evening.

In studies, microneedling proved very effective. It helped increase the effectiveness of Minoxidil for example by 400%.

Its also fairly quick and easy to do. You might spend a total of 20 minutes per week doing it.

We also have a free dermaroller available, you just need to cover the cost on shipping and handling and well send that out to you.

This video we made about how to use the dermaroller will be useful if you want to know more.

Its pretty straightforward so far right?

But you can see how each step adds up to make hair regrowth more and more likely.

When I tried any of these steps individually I had mediocre results, but adding them together made all the difference.

To summarize again, Ill use the shampoo once per week, the Scalp Elixir every day, except when I use the dermaroller

With these 3 steps in place Im already starting to see healthier hair and less hair loss.

The next few steps really helped to boost the growth of new hair follicles for me.

Now lets move on to step 4.

Stress And Hair Loss: The Basics

Tips for EXTREME HAIR LOSS from STRESS Dr Dray

Contrary to popular belief, stress is not linked to male pattern baldness the form of hair loss that causes you to permanently lose hair around your hairline, temples and the crown of your scalp.

However, stress can trigger and potentially worsen a form of temporary hair loss called telogen effluvium.

Telogen effluvium affects your hair by interrupting the natural hair growth cycle.

Normally, there are four different growth phases during the hair cycle as it grows from below the skin to its full length, then falls out to be replaced by a new hair:

    • The first phase is the anagen phase, during which the hair grows to its full length.

    • The second phase is the catagen phase, during which the old, fully grown hair follicle detaches from the skin.

    • The third phase is the telogen phase, also known as the resting phase, during which a new hair starts to grow from the follicle to replace the old one.

    • The fourth phase is the exogen phase, during which the old hair falls out, with the new hair growing in its place.

Just like your skin and nails, your hair is constantly undergoing this growth cycle. Weve covered each phase of the hair growth cycle in more detail in our guide to the hair growth process.

Each phase of the hair growth cycle varies in length. Hairs usually stay in the anagen phase for up to six years during which they grow to their full length.

About 90 percent of your hairs are in the anagen phase at any time, meaning that most of your hair is constantly growing.
