Loreal Because Its Not Worth It
Drugstore shampoos are not worth the money you save. L’Oreal Elvive shampoo has a long list of chemical ingredients, among them glycerin, which is used as antifreeze in cars, and citric acid that is a preservative but is also used in stop baths when developing photographs, as Wired reports. Just the thought of how chemical this product is should immediately put you off.

Were here to bring you the facts about your favorite shampoos and conditioners. Though theyre made out of really common ingredients, commonly doesnt always mean safe .
Most are made with strong chemical formulas that can be harsh to your skin and to the environment.
Haircare products like shampoo and conditioner are highly engineered.
Theyve been designed to lather up and leave your hair squeaky clean, but thats not even that good for you!
Dangerous shampoo chemicals will leave your hair stripped of natural oils causing dry hair, which is why we need conditioner to re-moisturize it without leaving it oily.
Build up of these chemicals can also clog and reduce the size of hair follicles, leading to hair loss and damage, especially to sensitive skin.
You Wont Swish Your Hair With Pantene
Next time you venture out to pick up some shampoo, avoid putting the Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality Shampoo in your cart because it is underwhelming. FYI, there is absolutely nothing natural about the shampoo, unlike its name claims. If you take a glance at its ingredients, you’ll notice it is filled with chemicals that are harsh and can cause skin irritation. Here’s a tip to remember: if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it’s bad for you!

Is Hair Falling Out When Shampooing Normal
Totally! It is absolutely normal to lose up to 100 hairs daily. On the day you shampoo your hair, you may lose even more than that . The fallen tangled hairs or the hairs that were already about to fall will fall when shampooing and conditioning your hair. They just slip easier. Its as simple as that. So seeing more hair fall when shampooing is typically nothing to worry about.
If, however, hair fall starts to worsen, you should definitely look into it.
Hair Loss From Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo
Hi, I recently tried out a new shampoo and conditioner set called Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. It has silicone in it, and can help improve shine quality in your hair, so I gave it a shot. I noticed afterwards more hair coming out after I rinsed the shampoo and conditioner out, but thought it was just natural. I switched shampoo and conditioner for a bit, came back to the Hello Hydration set, and when I rinsed out a clump of hair immediately came out between my fingers.
Is this coincidence, or do you think there is a relation??? Please help!!!
Maybe it is a coincidence. If the shampoo actually causes hair loss, I am sure it would have never been introduced/sold. I have personally used the shampoo before and did not experience anything different. If you believe there is a relation, then I would suggest not using it.

Some styling products and hairstyles have been linked to a type of permanent hair loss called traction alopecia. This happens when pulling causes strands of your hair to break or fall out, which can lead to permanent hair follicle damage.
Here are some examples of tight hairstyles associated with hair loss:
Buns and ponytails that are tightly pulled
Tightly braided hair
Hair extensions or weaves
Keep in mind that its OK to wear these styles occasionally. But doing so every day can increase your risk of losing hair.
Some chemical hair treatments, like chemical straightening, have been linked to hair loss when used in combination with tight hairstyles.
What Other Factors Or Habits Can Contribute To Hair Loss
Other aspects of your life can contribute to thinning hair.
Emotional or physiological stress can cause a type of hair loss called telogen effluvium. This usually happens 3 to 5 months after the stressor, and hair grows back to normal in most people.

What Products Contain Cosmetic Preservatives
Other than hair care products, the use of use of DMDM Hydantoin is found in many other beauty products including nail polish, bath products, makeup bases and skin care products.
If you would rather avoid this ingredient for the time being you should check the ingredients label for the following preservatives which all release a tiny amount of formaldehyde: Formaldehyde, quaternium-15, dimethyl-dimethyl hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol
The cosmetics industry already labels some nail products as formaldehyde-free.
Also avoid using products that have expired or been left in the sun as they may have released more formaldehyde than is safe for human health and may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Currently there are over 2,000 products in the United States which contain an antimicrobial formaldehyde releaser preservative. Ensure you do a cosmetic ingredient review on all your personal care products if you want to avoid these preservatives.

Your Shampoo Might Be Causing Your Hair To Thinheres Why
Weve seen it in the news more than once: shampoo causing hair to thin, or even worse, fall out. However, no one really knew why it was happening, so industry vet Gail Federici partnered up with cosmetic chemist Dr. Joe Cincotta to find answers. Heres what they discovered.

We were trying to figure out why color-treated hair didnt look fresh after just a short time, and we knew it wasnt color fading, says Federici. The penny finally dropped when Dr. Joe said it had to be the film-forming ingredients, i.e., silicones, conditioning and pearlizing agents, thickening resins, etc. that have been added to shampoos over the years, but do not easily rinse off. These ingredients have nothing to do with cleansing and are engineered to stay behind on the hair shaft and scalp. They work wonders on the hair shaft to de-frizz, boost shine and smooth the hair, but they can result in problems when left on the scalp.

According to Dr. Cincotta, these are the key ingredients that can cause buildup on the hair and scalp and should be avoided when possible: sticky silicones conditioning gums that grab onto hair and scalp to deposit more silicones and pearlizing agents, which are waxes that give shampoo a pearly appearance that can leave residual wax on the hair and scalp .
The Unfortunate Reality Of Dry Shampoo
Its convenient, but bad for the scalp. So bad it might lead to hair loss.
Theres a common pattern with socially constructed beauty norms. Society insists women do a ridiculous thing to look good Women, being people, clamber to find short-cuts to accomplish said thing as easily as possible The arms race continues until the norm goes away or a harder-to-imitate beauty trend emerges .
You can see this dynamic at work in a newish, miraculous, terrifying innovation called dry shampoo.
The stuff is the best friend of the lazy-yet-vain. When sprayed onto hair, it soaks up oil, giving the impression of freshly washed and styled coif in seconds. Since I discovered dry shampoo a few years ago, I have regularly slept in for an extra 15 minutes while the rest of the world climbs groggily into their showers like a bunch of chumps. . Then, I would get to skip the blow-drying and heat-styling in which chumps of the female persuasion often engageanother 10 or 15 golden snooze minutes. With just one product, I was able to add another reality TV show to my rotation read more books for work.
When I woke up, I would tip my head upside down, spray on the shampoo, shake my head a bit, flip it back over and grin at the reflection of my fluffy bouffant, in a move I like to call the Grimy Laker Girl.
Thats disgusting, my boyfriend would say. You know people stopped cleaning themselves with powders in like the 18th century, right?
